Christi's Story

Life I have: -a fabulous husband (I am married to "MacGyver"; he can figure out most anything!) for the past 40+ years; -three lovely daughters, all proud Seminole Grads; first born is a devoted Mom, does frequent turns on the stage of local community theaters and is the Life of anything she attends; 2nd - a nurse, homeschooling mom & plays and records guitar and keyboard with their church’s worship band; 3rd - devoted to her hubs, their husky, “Floof”, and her work in government...now pursuing her Master’s. I am blessed. -two wonderful sons-in-law: one who serves as a campus pastor at UPenn, Temple & Drexel Universities, the other is an accounting geek like myself! -the world's most perfect grandson (do not argue; I know I'm right on this one) + ditto on my granddaughter, the bravest girl I've ever known; update: our newest grand darling is another courageous and tenacious girl! Born 10 weeks early, at 2 lbs., 4 oz, but now thriving and charming all who are privileged to see her, in these nasty days of Covid. -served in a challenging job as a certified business administrator for a large non-profit, but now enjoying my life as a lady of leisure! -a circle of beloved friends and family -terrific memories (unfortunately, high school seems to have escaped the long term storage.....so be gentle) -an insatiable appetite for Thai food! School LOVED our Chemistry teacher.......never ever thought I'd ever enjoy science...... Mr. Frye rocked 7th period in band....if he didn't spit on us......that man knew what he wanted and he was gonna get it out of that band if it killed him....John Christian as our drum major just kicked it! Majorettes......great and awful at the same time. What a lot of fun we had..."Roundabout"...fire batons at homecoming in the gym...they'd NEVER let you do that now...our matching outfits at camp...endless rehearsals in front of the windows of the library...girl drama trauma....but that IS high school, right? I still keep up with Debbie! Speaking of drama: "Once Upon A Mattress"......getting dropped in the "bird cage"......I lost an inch of height due to that....JK Squealing tires in Kelly Swartz’ Cadillac...how much fun can two girls have listening to Joni Mitchell? Shout out to the CHICA! Driving through the Potato Capital of the country...Hastings...to get to the beach. I just want to say that is too far to go without a potty. :) Tacos from the Jack in the Box with Debbie Holroyd ...Expand for more
in her Cutlass convertible....and getting back before the bell. Well, almost always..... Two- and three-pod classes....who came up with that one? Typing class with "Old Black Water, Keep on Rolling, Mississippi Moon won't you keep on shining on me" playing on the radio and trying to type it as fast as they sang it..... Leonardo's Pizza......seriously folks, have you EVER found better pizza? ANYWHERE? Being a candy striper (stay clean...rhymes with hyper...which might also describe me) at Shands in the peds ward....recently spend too much time Shands, as our first grandgirl had to be life-flighted there after her birth, in 2013. So grateful for everyone there in the NIC Units......and the Ronald McDonald House... Dub's mirror ball......oops, that wasn't legal. Wearing white suits and looking for John Travolta wanna-be's... The school radio station DJ at lunch dedicating the song, "Shake Your Booty" to me and calling me the Booty Monster.......you scarred me for life! Youth group and the coffee house at Trinity United Methodist back when it was on 8th Ave... There must be more, but my brain is stuttering.... College College days....um, started at UF during what should have been my senior year at Buchholz...big mistake...WAY too many people in that auditorium class! Then Sante Fe CC....off for a year working during Houston's oil boom....finished up at FSU in '81... Workplace My career arc? That implies ascent and descent....uhm, not that way for me. My BA in Hospitality Administration let me be a desk clerk for crying out loud.....then Navy wife (no paycheck for that one, but great travel!)....Mom of three with diverse talents and interests to be encouraged (and driven to, and paid for!)...theater and church volunteer....singer/actress (still no money here, folks)...homeschool teacher and substitute teacher...writer for a newspaper...book editor....and worked as a Business Administrator for a large non-profit. Still wife, still Mom, have added the title: Marmee, from my granddarlings! Military Never personally active duty....married a hotel manager who morphed in to the Navy's CUTEST H-60 (helicopter) pilot EVER....stationed at NAS Pensacola, Whiting Field, North Island, Coronado, California, (x3), Barber's Point, Hawaii, Montgomery, AL (go, figure), Stavanger, Norway (NATO).....now in the 2nd ACT of our lives, back in FL.......ok, well, uh maybe the 3rd? EEK! We’re going for a STRONG finish!
