Christi Proffitt's Story
Life
We have been in Denver since 1987. Doug retired at the end of 2010. He kept asking me if I minded that he was retiring and I was still working. I told him no, just as long as he helped me out at school. He is great with the kids and the kids liked having him there. He actually got a thank you gift at the end of the year!
We enjoy working in the yard together and our beautiful mountains. Doug loves backpacking, and goes yearly on a trip with several friends. I prefer wheels when I camp. I still haven't gotten to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison - so that is on my list and I would like to maybe take along a Grandgift.
We have 4 children. Kyle and his wife, Cheryl, and our daughter Nashalla and her husband, Tsundu. We have absolutely wonderful and beautiful grandchildren. Four boys and 2 girls. The oldest is 10 then 9, 6, 5., 2 and 2 in July. Nashalla and family live about 40 minutes north of us in Boulder County. Kyle and family are in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. Daddy was killed in a car wreck in June of 09. Momma is now here in Colorado, in the same town as Nashalla and family. Menkyi, our oldest granddaughter has sleepovers with her. The youngest is attached to her as well. But she especially loves FaceTime with Hiro, her cousin in Texas. They are the two youngest.
When I was upset with Mr Stoll my senior year I told him I would never teach school or sell insurance. I taught in Kansas starting in 1972.
Isn't it interesting how we learn so much after we leave high school?
School
I loved WRHS. The kids were friendly and the teachers actually knew us for the people we were not just the kid in the 3rd row. I loved music, sports, drama and the people that shared in those activities with me. I appreciate now, more than I realized at the time, what WRHS had because of the kids from Forbes. We made friends quickly and had to say good-bye in the same way. Living happily in HS wasn't a myth for me.
