Christie's Story

Life My Spouse Steve and I have been happily married for 20 years now and live in the town of Fortuna on the coast of California near the Oregon boarder with our kids Alex 16 and Andie 13 . My Pets We 2 dogs, 4 cats. My Kids The Lord blessed us with 2 awesome kids. Alex our son is 16 & Andie our daughter 13 going on 21! Two teenagers............How did this happen so soon! Life sure is hectic but fun at this age. My Job It is amazing how life throws us curve balls and we have changes happen out of nowhere. This was my old story: After going back to school almost 3 years ago, and graduating college at the age of 37, I am enjoying my job as a medical assistant. I never thought I could love a job as much as I love mine. I am part time so that I could still be able to be home in time for the kids after school. It has been such a great change in my life! This is my new story: In September of 2008 I became very ill when I was given and accidental combination of medication that created a poison in my brain called Seretonin Syndrome.I should not be alive right now but Praise God I survived, 4 months later it is better but not great. I still struggle daily to get a grasp on life. I had to quit my job and in many ways it has been a blessing, but it still was a heart breaking decision. But I trust the Lord and he will provide. I do have a very loving family and an amazing group of friends, but life is a day by day journey. I will not give up hope for things to get better soon. If you are a praying person, please pray for me. Thank you and God bless you! School If I could do it all over again I wouldn't listen to all the bad things said to me that kept me from enjoyin...Expand for more
g school more. I had great friends but the self esteem of a mouse! A lot of people had no clue what kind of a childhood I lived away from the school. My mom did the best she could but we dealt with so much pain before we moved to California that no one knew about, our home had a lot of anger in it. My real (not wayne)father was a very abusive man and we endured a lot of crap from our summer visits to see him in Michigan. I always felt different from other kids and our family never had any money. So growing up with lot of more wealthy kids made life pretty rough. People didn't know that I felt so ugly most of the time. I never wore shorts or dresses because I thought I was huge. Man would I give anything to be that huge:) again!!! 118 pounds! I survived high school because 3 awesome teachers! Mr. and Mrs. Davis and Miss Roesler And one awesome bus driver, Russel Smith. During the summer when I was 15 I no longer fit in with my friends because I had seen things that summer at my dads home no one could possibly imagine.Life in Pontiac Michigan (Outside of Detroit) was a whole different world from the little town of Jackson. Some people said I became stuck up around that time, I wasn't stuck up but I felt out of place. The 3 teachers saw something different in me and became my saviors! And so did Tom Cobb. He was the sweetest person I ever knew and he treated me like I was someone special! That allowed me to survive everyday. School for me was difficult but I am so glad I stuck it out and graduated. I have changed a lot since high school, by the Grace of God but I still look back and charish the friendships I had during those times and miss those people very much!
