Christina's Story
My story...well, I left Richmond half way through my senior year and finished in Warren while I was living with my uncle and aunt. Spent many a nights clubing and the days finishing school...how I managed a 3.5 GPA, I don't know...lol. I met my first husband that summer and were married 12/1997. Shortly after my Nate was born (1998). My gypsies heart could never stay in one place, so we moved many times over the next 4 years. We finally settled in Clarkston when I was pregnant with my Luke (2002). I worked evenings as a caregiver for those with Alzheimer's and was going to school. I was a stay at home mother for the first year for both boys and as they got older I tried to work around their schedule so that I could be home with them.
I left my first husband when my boys were still very young and tried it on my own for a bit. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made and was more than worth the hard work and years in therapy :) A year later I started dating a long time friend, Chris. During this time I was working 55 hours a week as a independent caregiver. The family was great. They allowed me to bring the boys ...Expand for more
with me. I was also finishing up with my business degree (which I loved getting but never used...lol.) and taking the time to become a Reiki Master Teacher. Needless to say I was really busy. Chris and I married 12/2007 and decided to buy a house in Clarkston. So for the last 6 years I've stayed put.
I stopped working while Chris and I were fighting for full custody from my ex. The court battles were taking up too much time. We finally won and my sons were allowed to be adopted my their step-father and was finalized 11/2013.
I decide to go back to school in 2013 and did a year at U of M and then transferred to Baker because U of M didn't offer the program I wanted. I have been accepted into the Respiratory Therapy Program and will graduate the same year that Nate will graduate from High school (2016). That summer we will be moving to Arizona and finally leaving the cold behind :) Where I will continue furthering my education to receive both my masters and doctorate. Plus Arizona will be a perfect place for me to continue with me spiritual studies that have because a huge part of my life over the last 12 years.
