Christina's Story
Life
After H.S. I went to Cornell and got a BachelorÂs in Nutritional Sciences, after which I lived in Manhattan for a year while training to be a Registered Dietitian. Then I worked at the medical center in Stony Brook doing clinical work but left that job after 2 years for grad school out in the Midwest. I got a masterÂs in journalism at IU and then moved to D.C. for 3.5 years where I worked first for a non-profit organization (the U.S. committee for the World Health Organization) and then for a company that contracts work from the federal government. While in D.C. I began free-lance writing in my Âfree time and worked on a few book projects for Mayo Clinic. I loved the free-lance work (which I could do from anywhere), so when I reached the point at my day job where I found myself dreading going into the office every day, I decided to make a change. elf living in WB again! (Â
despite my original intention to live and work in Manhattan.)
My travels over the years have brought me to the U.S. Virgin Islands, the British West Indies, England, France, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Greece, The Philippines, Thailand, Mexico, Bahamas, Vancouver (B.C.), and to several U.S. cities (the fun ones, like L.A., Chicago, Las Vegas, Portland, New Orleans, DenverÂ
).
IÂve only done non-fiction work so far, but I hope someday to write a novel (a successful one, that is). I still play the piano and I picked up golf a few years back. I also still play volleyball and enjoy running.
I basically only keep in good touch with Michelle (Tempera) Dannenfelser and Ed Elefterion from H.S. -- I see them both on a regular basis. Ed and I had lost touch for a few years and then both, ironically, did our masterÂs degrees at IU at the same time. As far as friends go, I guess weÂll be in it till the end.
