Life After H.S. I went to Cornell and got a Bachelor’s in Nutritional Sciences, after which I lived in Manhattan for a year while training to be a Registered Dietitian. Then I worked at the medical center in Stony Brook doing clinical work but left that job after 2 years for grad school out in the Midwest. I got a master’s in journalism at IU and then moved to D.C. for 3.5 years where I worked first for a non-profit organization (the U.S. committee for the World Health Organization) and then for a company that contracts work from the federal government. While in D.C. I began free-lance writing in my “free time” and worked on a few book projects for Mayo Clinic. I loved the free-lance work (which I could do from anywhere), so when I reached the point at my day job where I found myself dreading going into the office every day, I decided to make a change.
