Christina's Story

Left Florida because of a broken heart. Moved to NY. Lived there since 1989. For the most part I didn't date very much after leaving Florida. I got used to being single. Worked in another pizzeria/restaurant for a few years and moved onto a secretarial position in an architect's office. Later I got hired by a plantiff's personal injury firm and worked my way up to legal secretary. Four years later was offered a job running the collection department of a medical office. Three years later I met my husband and ultimately got married in 2003. In 2006 my husband and I moved to Milford, PA. In '06 I opened my first bridal store. My house has just been completed. We will start to try to have children. Max of 2. I own a Yellow Labrador who was 10 in Oct/08 and she is my baby for now. Im determined to make my store successful. I was the President of the Milford Business Council and on many bridal retailer boards. I love animals, dining out, traveling, dancing, having drinks with friends, entertaining, fishing, shooting, duelies, cooking, chili, boots, laughing and some old country music. I always wanted to be a financially successful person. My family and friends thought that was a realistic idea. As it turns out, they were right. How to blow off steam? Drive fast. Talk it out. My favorite way to relax is a hot shower and dozing off on the couch. If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have my own desk, a computer, and be able to be my own boss to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My hero is my mother depite how much we argue. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is John Vetter, I did that in 2009 and now Ive put that to rest. Not crazy into sports but will watch the Yankees. As for Reality TV I guess I'd say the Biggest Loser and Hell's Kitchen. Luckily Im not obsessed with anything or anyone. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my center island because when I open the dishwasher I cant open the door to the garbage at the same time and add on a deck outside my sliding glass doors. My dream home would be what I just build. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to my mother, brother and my husband's mother, then spend the rest on a personal trainer, commercial property for my bridal salon, retirement, college funds for the kids, clothes, trips and my favorite car at the time. My current age is 42. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old farts and their lives were mondane. I was so completely wrong. My career aspirations are to go LARGE with my bridal salon. My best friend would tell you I'm friendly and outgoing and that I speak my mind, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as a bull in a china shop. I don't dress like yester year. Im usually casual, however, love the opportunity to dress to the nines. I share my home with my husband as Bear my female, yellow lab, which I found irresistable passed in 2009. I still cry for her on a regular basis. I feel so guilty that I delayed getting her to the vet. Im so, so sorry Bear. My biggest victories are my two broker licenses PC and Life & Health. Major pain in the but...Expand for more
t tests. But I gradually began to hate the business, got out and let the licenses lapse. If I was to get one do-over I would liked to see where my relationship with John would have gone. Based on what I know now it would probably have been a train wreck. In 10 years, I hope to be financially independant from my husband and have at least one child. I'm going to get there by continually working hard at work and practice, practice, practice. Barbara Mendez is my oldest friend and I think we stuck together because we are both Cuban and share many of the same old school family values. Being Cuban means you are raised a certain way. Cubans hold on to their heritage and success is the second word out of their mouth after mama. Mandee Quinones is my other closest friend and I believe that we stuck because at the time that we met were in the same place in life. My classmates would be surprised if we were to meet at a reunion because I dont have any gray hair or wrinkles. I really haven't aged much. I gain some weight but thankfully its slowly come off. My first job was at at my parents pizzeria, where I got paid sqwat to bust my hump. What I remember most about it is paying for my car payment with the tips I made. UPDATE: Met up with my first love and we talked over lunch. He put on some weight. I noticed some gray hairs too. We talked about the past and he was surprised that I felt as strongly as I did back then. It was an interesting lunch. I knew instantly that I wasn't attracted to his physical features anymore. However, though slightly different in character, I could clearly see why I fell in love with him in the first place-- it was his personality. Still there were other things that I could not approve of that he's done. Things I would have found other ways to deal with. Those things were a turn off to me. So much so that if I was single I would never consider starting a relationship with him now. Funny how time changes people. Looking back at life's journey is so mind blowing. UPDATE 12/30/10: No children yet and Im not financially independant from my husband yet. Im wondering what the hold up is? Bear passed away in 2009. The magnatude of that event is something I dont think I will get over. Its incredibly painful. I feel guilty whether warranted or not. I think about her just about every day. Imagine it was a child I lost, I dont think that I could hack it. As for a car well my husband got me my beautiful Cadillac CTS cranberry with camel interior. Love the look of that car. Sucks in the snow though even with the all wheel drive. Reflecting on the entire year. It wasn't bad but could have been a lot better financially. Check off another item of my list of to dos in my life that hanging on my refrigderator (sp). Love dogs but not willing to replace Bear just yet. Wheeling and dealing with contacts to keep this business going. Started SEO work on and revamped my website and its been running a few months now. Trying to earn a little respect in this business. Using a lot of smoke and mirrors just long enough for the financial end of the business to catch up. Hoping for a steller year next year.
