Christine's Story
Life
I'm married now for eleven years. His name is Jimmy. We have no children at this time, maybe later. I have been working as an Office Manager for the NYC Health Dept. in Manhattan for the past 20 years and is also the place where I met my husband (who has also been working there for 23 years). I also teach decorative painting at night. I've been painting for about 5 years and became a certified instructor three years ago. I still live in Glendale. I really miss everyone and hope to here from some of you very soon.
School
My best memory of high school is all the laughing that we did. Every class I had, there was someone who always made me laugh, A LOT! Anyone who remembers me, knows that I was always laughing. Let's put it this way, I was sent to SPO everyday by at least 2 teachers for laughing. My favorite teacher has to be Mr. Hathaway. He was a good math teacher, but it was just hysterical how everyone would act like a bunch of comedians in class and he would say nothing. Everything from doing impressions of all the Fat Albert characters to mooning him from on top of their chair. But of course, yours truly would get sent to SPO for laughing. Thanks ...Expand for more
guys! Another great memory is the "smoking lady" in the bathroom at lunchtime. We were in there, of course smoking, when we heard she was coming in. We all put it out except for my friend Paula. I guess she didn't know. Well, the "smoking lady" tapped her on the shoulder from behind and Paula turned around, got nervous and blew a big cloud of smoke right in her face. I thought we were going to die laughing. High School was the best four years I ever had.
Workplace
My years working for the City have been pretty good to me. I started as a clerical/secretary and have worked my way up to being an Office Manager. I manage about 25 people at our Central Office and am responsible for handling all personnel matters and payroll for our 12 Health Centers throughout the five boroughs, approximately 500 employees. We also are directly involved with many health issues that affect our lives everyday; TB, HIV, Communicable Diseases, Immunization, Maternity Services, etc. We're also involved with various bio-terrorism health issues including small pox and anthrax. I enjoy my job, although it can be hectic at times and I look forward to what the future has in store for me.
