Christine's Story

Hello Fellow Classmates and Friends, Where has the time gone? I have two sons-Jeremy Keith and Robert Evan who are now 42 and 33, respectively. Being a Mom has been both the toughest and most rewarding experience of my life. I have worked for state government in the area of Computer Technology for over 20 years. On December 30th, 2013, at 5:00 PM, I became an official member of the "Retirement Club". I am enjoying my new life and especially appreciate not having to make the two hour drive each day. I have too much energy left to be idle, so will probably pick up a part-time job somewhere. Possibly in Hotel Management, which I have always thought would be a great line of work to get into. I earned three Associate's Degrees at MCC, a BBA from Northwood University in 1992 and an MSM from Walsh College in 2001. This most likely will come as a surprise to those who thought I was always too wild and crazy to ever accomplish anything like this. *smile* I am even thinking of going on and getting a PhD. I miss the intellectual stimulation, the challenges, and listening to the viewpoints of the younger generation, and those from other cultures. Web design fascinates me and I would like to build a website that would be interesting and helpful to others. Happily single, now, am I, living on a nature preserve that goes out into four attaching lakes in beautiful Fenton, MI. Out here, it is almost like living in the UP. We have sandhill cranes, blue heron, ducks, beaver, swans, geese, and fox that help keep the rabbit population in check, and of course, lots of deer. Spending time out on my deck overlooking the water and working in my yard is my way of chilling out. At night, in the summer, you can view one hell of a "Bat Show" in the skies over the water. Mom in October, 2008. Life is never quite as good when you don't have your parent's around to share things with. But you go on, and try to apply all the things that you learned from them to your own life. No matter how old you get, there is still so much to learn .My youngest brother, Eric (who is a minister), and his family live in Tennessee. My other brother Dave, (who graduated from South Lake in 1971) passed away at the young age of 60, on October 2, 2014. I will forever miss him. He was a such a great brother-- good-hearted, and so funny. I also have two nephews and five nieces that I love to pieces. I am a voracious reader, mainly of history. With so much out there that is based on what really happened in our world and changed it forever, I do not have time for fiction. I can get plenty of that on TV (which I rarely watch). Cooking is a passion of mine and I like to come up with my own variation of recipes. I feel fortunate to be as happy and healthy as I am, and continue to possess a genuine lust for life and all its many challenges. When the weather permits, I like to go walking at night near my home, seek out and identify the constellations, and tell God what is on my mind. When I get back home, I feel refreshed and unburdened. Ready to meet the next challenge that I know awaits me. My prayers were answered on July 5, 2015, when I became a first-time Grandma. Roman Alexander Williams was born to my youngest son, Robert, and his fiancee Emily. Roman is an endless source of joy for both sides of our families. I have pictures of him on my Facebook page. I made my page under Christine Evans (Williams) so that old friends could find me if they wanted to. God Bless Everyone! I hope you are all making the most out of every single day of life and taking good care of yourselves.
