Christine's Story

Hi all you yellow jackets! Well I married my high school sweetheart Bob Mays, 4 months after graduation. We celebrated our 40th anniversary Oct.25, 2009 with 85 of our closest friends and family members. After graduation I attended Delta Jr. College for 2 years, then I decided I better get to work and help my husband. I worked at Diamond Walnut for over 13yrs. I worked year round as a fork lift driver. When I left there I went back to school took classes at humphreys insurance related programs for workers comphensation and I went to UC Davis, and took other classes and became a para-legal and worked at a law firm for 5 years. Then my mother-in-law had a stroke, and I quite my job to take care of her, she came and lived with us for 6yrs.(& still lives!) Then my father passed away and my mother had a stroke and she came to live with me and I took care of her for 7 1/2 yrs, she passed away almost 2yrs ago. I was all ready to go back into the work force when my middle child had her first baby and asked me to stay home and take care of her, and I am, but I am watching my other grandchildren also so I watch now a total of 4, 12hrs a day 4days a week. I have 3 daughters who in my opinion are beautiful inside and out. I spend most of my time trying real hard to be an example to my children and grandchildren. (and not always being successful, but you just get yourself up dust yourself off and start all over again!) Teaching them that time is precious, to value life, respect one another, to enjoy the simple things in life. To always have faith in God, that through him all things are possible. I enjoy witnessing my grandchildren learning through books and life's lessons. I pray they will be inspired, and responsible. I love teaching them about honesty, equality, human rights, to be kind in actions and in words, because words can be like a knife and cut right through you. "To do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I teach them when they get older and someone gives them a job to be a good employee. When you marry som...Expand for more
eone treat them well, talk, build bridges not wall, to be kind to them Love them like its your last day with them. I teach them that when your young especially in high school it will be the last time you see so many people you spent time with, in class, in sports, in fun, and thats how they will always remember you, so be the best you can be, but especially be kind and do well. Whether you were good or bad, in school the people who knew you then never imagine you as growing up, being intelligent,or having spirtual growth, that you acquired wisdom in you life experiences, that as you age you become kinder, mellow, more forgiving, more loving more appreciatative for everthing good and bad because it is all part of life's lessons, it is what got me to where I am today. I Love intimate moments with my wonderful husband Bob, who is hard working, who would sacrafice everthing for his family. I love listening to my friends and sharing valued time with them. I Love my children and wish I had more time with them, and for them. I love the Ocean and all bodies of water, I love the early morning as the sun is rising. I enjoy nature, birds singings, flowers blooming the smell after it rains, I love hearing children laugh, and seeing life through there eyes, I love the wisdom that the elderly have to offer, and yet I feel there pain, for they are so neglected by our society. I Love to read, and love quiet, I Love Opera (and Oprah!) music, mexican music, jazz, rap, r&b, country, I love it all. Life is Grand! my motto is "Carpe Diem" (sieze the day") and "Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me." There is something I think we can all be a part of, trying to attain "PEACE" this New Year (why not start now) by caring deeply, thinking kindly and acting in a gentle spirit for others, and having a little perspective. Just a little insight on where my heart and head is these days, in the meantime I hope that God will bless you all with good health, keep you safe and surround you with joy and the love of family and friends. Sincerely Chris
