Christine's Story
Well, over the years since graduation, I've raised 2 boys and 1 girl. I have 5 grandchildren. I'm a widow and a retired EMT. My middle son is a paramedic and my daughter is in school studying to be a pharmacy tech. I was privileged to homeschool my 2 younger children, raising them to be good, godly adults. I got hurt at work, forcing my early retirement from my great work as a medic. I now live with my paramedic son and his lovely wife in a great home where we enjoy each others company greatly. My retirement years are filled with joy and contentment, continuing to serve the Lord as a mentor to young adults at my church. I never thought I could be happy outside of New York but Houston is a great city to raise children. My biggest surprise in life has been the oportunity to be a soloist in my church choir, something that would have never happened anywhere else. Those who remember me from glee club know I would never have done that back then! I failed once and never did that again unil 1997! I've truly enjoyed myself since then, though. We must use what talent that God gave us for His glory. I'm a much happier person than I was as a teenager, totally at peace with myself and the world. Life is very good.
My hero is my friend Paula. She homeschooled her 2 boys while also taking care of her very ill husband. He was sick for 6 years during which time she still taught her boys & co-op classes for our homeschool group. She kept ME going when my husband was sick & died. Her husband died a year & a half after mine. One of her boys has cerebral palsey & he did so well because of her that he's in college today. Because of her engcouragement, my son is now a paramedic. She's now our pastors' secretary and both of her sons are in ministry at our church.
If I won $100 million, I'd give 10% of it to my church, then spend the rest on my kids, HSPCA and me.

ht that people my age now would be old or dead. I was so completely wrong!.
My best friend would tell you I'm crazy, funny, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet.
God has been very good to me,even when I did't want Him in my life. He protected me when I was in a wreck in 1977 that I shouldn't have survived. All I got were a broken ankle & nose. Since then, He's been my sustenence in every part of my life. He's kept me out of trouble when my emotions wanted to be stupid. Texas has been a great home for me. I've met the best folks here, the kind that would give you the shirt off their backs before you asked. One of those heroes is Wes Allen Cole, chief of the Northwest Volunteer Fire Dept. He paid for my EMT class and my son, Ed's, paramedic School. Both of those combined were over $2000! His respect for my son and concern for me prompted him to do this. He is now fighting for his life because of cancer. His Christian faith he lived out daily as he ran the department with a kind but firm hand. He's been good to my family, but even better to our community by providing the premier fire service possible with volunteer crews. I pray he survives, but, if not, his memory will live on in our family.Today, June 15, 2009, Wes Allen Cole passed away. Heis now in the care of his Heavenly Father, happy forever with Him. I will miss you, Chief! today, 10/3/10, I am in my first semester of bible college. I'm enrolled in the bachelor's degree program for biblical counselling. It's tough course, but I'm enjoying every minute of it! I's going to be a tough 4 years, however, I'm ready for the challenge! Bring it on! I want to be able to use my innate talent for listening to bring glory to my Lord and King, Jesus Christ by helping those in need of a friend and advocate. I hope to work with troubled children, but we shall see what God wants me to do with my education.
