More about Christine:"Hi everyone,
After high school, I went to UW-Madison, graduating with a journalism degree in 1978. I got a job as a cub reporter at the Daily Jefferson County Union in Fort Atkinson, 35 miles southeast of Madison. I never planned to be there more than a couple years, but time marched on and I did not. I eventually became news editor and finally, managing editor, a post I have held for about 14 years.
I have been married 21 years to Peter Spangler, a vocational metals teacher originally from Johnson Creek. We do not have...Expand for more
any children, but we have a bunch of nieces and nephews. We live in Fort Atkinson in a bungalow we currently are expanding.
Seven years ago, Peter and I started a business manufacturing a natural product for removing rust from antiques, vintage cars/trucks, old gas engines, etc. We go to collector car, tool, tractor and gas engine shows and have expanded into Canada and Europe. While we are small, we are growing. Our product is called Rustbeeter, as it is made from sugarbeet byproduct.
When we're not working or selling Rustbeeter, Pete and I can be found at our cabin on Lake Alice in Tomahawk. We bought it 11 years ago; it is one of 16 little fishing shacks that used to make up a resort and eventually went condo. We completely renovated it this past few years so it has a western lodge look. We enjoy fishing, campfires, pontooning and simply hanging out in the northwoods.
My mother, Virgil Blumer, passed away two years ago in June, and my sister, Patti, and I spent a lot of time at her house on Commonwealth Avenue in Madison (near Edgewood) cleaning, painting and packing up furnishings. It was bittersweet: While we hated to let go of our home of 51 years, we were pleased to see it being enjoyed by a new family with children who are the age we were when we moved in in 1958.
That is my life the past three decades in a nutshell. Thanks for stopping by.".
