Christine (Tina)'s Story
Life
Daughter of a Maryknoll Orphanage/Grammar School alumnus, I went from Transfiguration Grammar School to St. Mary's Academy; undergraduate school at Cal State U Los Angeles; graduate school at Catholic U in Washington, D.C. I have been married to Fred (my Loyola High boyfriend and date for Belles and Beaux, junior and senior proms) since 1970, have two wonderful children, lived in Fairfax, Virginia for 16 years, returned to California (Thousand Oaks) in 1996. My husband retired as a supervisory agent from the US Secret Service in 2000 and re-entered the federal workforce in 2002 (after 9/11), supervising federal air marshals (Homeland Security)retiring again in 2007; I worked half of my career as law librarian at the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, and the next half as head librarian for a major law firm in downtown Los Angeles, ending employment (and entering the "bum" stage) in 2...Expand for more

Workplace
As an old fashioned 60's woman, my most important objective in life was to be a wife and mother. I attended undergraduate school for years (11) only wanting to continue education, with no career goal in mind. Having worked at the Los Angeles Public Library in my first year of college, librarians impressed me as a group which seemed to "know everything." If ever I wanted a career, it would be as a librarian. By the time I got to that end, I was 35 years old! I remember sitting at my desk on the first day as a librarian, with the stereotypical pencil over ear, thinking..."I made it! I really made it."
