Life
It's Thansgiving Day 2007 and I'm just passing some time here at Classmates.com. I've been in Seattle for 21 years now but Toledo is still home. I love living in the city but get home as often as I can. All of my family still live in the Toledo area with Mom on the same corner for over 60 years now.
I was married to Mike Kempf for 14 years and we have 3 sons - Tom, Robin, & Matt. They live in West Seattle, Tacoma, and Graham. Rob has an 8 year old son and Matt has a boy who is 6 months. Mike is also in the Tacoma area.
I've had a variety of jobs since I came to Seattle in the fall of '86 all of them accounting related. I've worked for a couple of CPA firms, a bank, a national charity, an environmental emergency response organization, and a regional beer/wine/spirits distributor. Currently I am the payroll accountant at Harley Marine Services. HMS is the parent company of 8 tug & barge companies on the West Coast and in NY Harbor. and became a Certified Payroll Professional in the fall of 2002.
My family includes my husband Tom who is a retired civil engineer. He worked on state highway construction projects such as the Valley Freeway, I-405, and I-90. (Here's a bit of trivia for you - Tom knew Shirley Grub as a kid. They rode the same bus to school up in Ferndale, WA. You should remember Shirley as a substitute teacher back in elementary school.) Anyway, Tom and I have a son David who attends Ballard High School. Tom has 2 girls and 1 grandson who is 7. I'm beginning to look forward to an empty nest, retirement, and hopefully some travel. Tom & I both have our list of places we would like to see again or for the 1st time - New Zealand & Australia; Ireland, Scotland, and England; Alaska...you get the idea.
I haven't been to a class reunion since the first one in 1981. It seems like every time they come around I have something else that I've already committed to. I'll just have to look for you at Cheese Day.
