Christine's Story

Although I didn't actually graduate from Warwick, I always felt closer to folks there than at Neffsville where I moved in junior year. After kicking around a few colleges on the East Coast, I moved to San Francisco and seem to have become stuck here. After 10 years of deciding what I wanted to major in in college, I finally graduated and went to University of California, Berkeley for my Ph.D. in Education and Cognitive Science. I did some very interesting research in designing educational software, then spent about 5 years teaching at U.C. Berkeley's School of Education and in their Cognitive Science program. My most recent evolution is as a 6th grade math/science/drama teacher at James Lick Middle School in San Francisco. Who knows where the future will lead? I found an amazing partner who managed to hold on to me, and we've been together for 20 years now. We're stunningly in love after so many years (indeed, the Q&A section didn't even list my *favorite* indoor sport ;-)--and it still scares me. I still write him a love poem every year on our anniversary, and he still pretends that he likes them. When I met him, Brian ...Expand for more
was a computer scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory by day and a punk rock drummer in the "Gargoyles" by night. Our advancing years having caught up; he's slowed down a bit and plays mostly in jazz and country bands now. We have a large network of friends who are often visiting our "get-away" house in the woods in the Sierra foothills. We met many of our friends at the Burning Man Festival, where we had a wedding ceremony in 1996 with everyone dressed in mud at the hot springs in the desert. We've had great adventures all over the world together including fascinating trips to India, Romania, Estonia, Morocco, Nicaragua (to name a few of the dozens of countries we've explored). We also lived in France for a couple of years, and we plan to live abroad again in the future--who knows? That's me now. I hope you can see a little bit of the old Chris in this current picture. Still questioning everything in the world, still wandering far landscapes in my dreams, still sharing everything I have with my friends, as well as strangers on the street! I think fondly of the folks at Warwick and hope all are doing well.
