Christine's Story
Hi!
It's been a long time since graduation from Pendleton... and how time has changed things. It's amazing to think that half my life has passed since graduation (let that one sink in slowly - feel old all of a sudden?). I have to say, I'm not the same person that walked those halls.
Most would remember me as a quiet, studious, inobtrusive, fade-into-the-background type. Well... I'm not that way anymore, thanks to college, my line of work, and my best friend from college. All of these things have opened me up into a person who speaks her mind, has an evolved sense of humor, is notorious for being the "fun one", has some cool hobbies, and is respected for her work.
So, what have I been up to? Let's see.... Graduated from Furman in 1996 with my degree in computer science; employed with MetLife before graduation; adopted Bob (my tuxedo cat) in 1997; married in 1999 to a really great guy who spoils me (who saw that one coming? not me); promoted to a manager at MetLife in 2002; and a multi-time Mustang national show winner through 2007. No kids, only a handful of worries... I can live with...Expand for more
that.
My husband, Lee, was into Mustangs (the car, not the animal) when we married, and although I grew up Chevy, I was swayed to "the dark side". Actually, it's been fun - and addictive - and is now a major part of our lives. We're on the national show circuit with the Mustang Club of America, showing our cars at both national and regional competitions. (It's quite competitive, which is right up my alley - I'm a fierce competitor.) My husband's car has one 6 or 7 national awards, including a Platinum award for his unrestored mustang (a '96 mystic cobra); my daily driver, an '01 GT convertible, has one 2 national titles (we don't show it as much). In all, we now own 6 mustangs from a '65 fastback to my '01, and just sold a 7th to a gentleman in Germany - the car is now on its way to its new owner. And, we just bought a '31 Model A - something new to play with.
Who would've thought that - a nerd who's into cars. Go figure!
Anyway - I hope you've enjoyed reading my update... drop me a line to let me know how you're doing!
