Christopher's Story

Life I am very happily married for nearly 21 years with three beautiful children. We are living in Virginia now and enjoying the changes in season very much. I miss Florida at times but we get back there every so often. College I graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!!!) for my undergraduate work and then received my law degree at Stetson University. UF was definitely not the place for me to have gone to law school. I feel lucky to have made it out alive and kept my marriage together as crazy as football Saturdays were at times. Anyway, I also made lifelong friends including my very best friend at UF. I try to go back at least twice a year for football games and to take my son there. He seems to really love the campus. Stetson wasn't nearly as crazy because we didn't have time to be crazy. Again, we made friends there that we maintain contact with every so often. However, law school also seemed to create marital problems for many while we were there. Luckily, my marriage held strong. I don't know if I would have made it out without her. Overall, it was a great experience and was the basis for any success I have achieved. Workplace My work experience began at Red Lobster. I worked there with two buddies from Bayshore, Barry Bishop and Todd Burnham. Even more importantly, I met my lovely bride at Red Lobster. I started out a lowly busboy and she was a bartender. We both stayed at Red Lobster for a number of years and transferred to their restaurant...Expand for more
in Gainesville during my time at UF. Since law school, I was a Navy JAG for eight years, which I discuss in the military section of the bio, and now I am an attorney for another federal agency. I practice Employment Law, which means I defend the agency in administrative hearings and in federal court against claims of employment discrimination. I enjoy it very much although, at times, it can be somewhat like divorce law, where no one is happy on either side. It's been a fun ride though and, although I travel a lot, I get time to attend my children's ball games and other family activities. We are really enjoying life. Military I had a different kind of military experience in that I went into the Navy JAG Corps directly out of law school. I spent eight amazing years on active duty in the Navy, and was stationed in terrific locations - Seattle, Washington, where my son was born, Charleston, South Carolina, La Maddalena, Italy (my daughter, the middle child, was born in the Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy), and Washington, D.C (other daughter, my baby, was born at the Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland). We were able to travel and see places we would otherwise never have seen had it not been for the Navy, including Newport, Rhode Island, Alaska, the San Juan Island, Spain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, Scotland, England, and Italy. I have nothing but fond memories of my active duty time in the military. I remain in the Naval Reserves and get my fix once a month.
