Christopherkit's Story

Life My wife June and I have been married to each other twice and now have been together a total of 18 1/2 years, 17 yrs. the first time in April 15th, 1977, and 1 1/2 yrs since the second time in April 15th, 2006. God has blessed us with another chance and another beautiful marriage to each other. The photo shows our three girls Elisabeth, Ruth-Ellen, and Grace. June's 11 yr. old son Paul isn't shown. I retired from the U.S.Navy as an enlisted Hospital Corpsman Medic in July 2003 after 21 years Active Duty and 11 years Active Reserve Duty making 32 years. During that time I got a B.A. in Sociology from Cal State Los Angeles and a B.S. in Business Manage-ment from Okinawa Far East Extension of Univ. of Maryland, and three semesters post grad work. I went back to RVA the summer of 2004 and attended the RVA alumni reunion. It was great, it had been about 34 years since I graduated and left RVA in July 1970. It was informational and healing and happy to be there again. I saw a few people whom I had known and I met a lot of new people. I stayed with my two brothers: Tim and his wife Toni Ghrist in Mombasa at the Lighthouse for Christ Mission and with my brother Doug and his wife Kathy Ghrist in his Nairobi house near other AIM missionaries. I stayed for the month of July and saw a lot of friends and game parks and animals and missions, and missionaries. I had a great time. While I was in Kenya, Africa I had already arranged for me and my family to attend the Christian Family camp called Forest Home in the San Bernardino mountains east of Los Angeles, CA. So since my mom paid for most of my African trip I went to Kenya, but since my former/present wife was mourning her loss of her second marria...Expand for more
ge I let her go with her mom and son Paul and one of our girls to the already paid for Forest Home Christian family camp. June really healed a lot there that "free" week and learned about the red rope of Rahab of Jericho, symbolizing Our Lord giving Rahab and June another chance at life. So June and her family healed and rested a lot. After I got back to central California I asked June to come visit with our three girls for the visitation week-end, and she did a few times. Then I asked her if she would consider courting me again. June prayed and fasted and sought pastoral counsel about courting me again and then when she decided to I had just gotten a large inheritance so I asked her to buy a house for me to live in near her in northern California so I could start courting and dating her and the house would be large enough to use when we got married. In Feb. of 2005 she told me she would like to get married on the same date, and I asked which year? April 15th 2005 or 2006? She stood her ground and said we needed a lot of counseling first so we waited 14, not 2 months to court and get married. We have now been married 1 1/2 years (again) and the flame of love that the Lord can give is able to be rekindled and can even be better after 12 years apart and the second time around. Our God is a God of second and third chances as we truly trust, obey and submit our will to Him. My life is a reminder to us all of God's wonderful love for us His true children who follow His biblical ways. Hopefully all of my rebellious ways are over and I can follow God more completely. Thanks for letting me share with you my life and what God has done for me and my family. RVA Alumni Christopher (Kit) Ghrist 1970 Grad.
