Christy's Story

I was accepted in the FBI May, 1970. I went to DC in June. I met a great guy from Oklahoma three days after I arrived. Russell was with the Bureau, as well. We were engaged in September. Unfortunately, the Army sent him on vacation to Viet Nam. I went back with him to OK in October, 1970. I wanted to stay with the FBI, but felt like I had to be with him until he left for Nam. My Father was transferred from Memphis to Jonesboro, Arkansas. I went back to Arkansas to live with my parents. Things were so crazy then and Russell and I became separated. The last time I saw him was Feb 14, 1971. Upon his return to Oklahoma, he married someone else and so did I. I married a rice farmer and had two kids. I learned how to grow rice and shoot snakes very well. Russell married and had four children. He took over his Father's carpentry business. On July 10, 2000, Russell and I reunited after almost 30 years. We were married November, 2001, and settled in Oklahoma City. We currently are selling our home in OKC and moving to Elk City, OK. His Mother is quite old and needs a caretaker. In between the FBI and now, I worked undercover with the Jonesboro Police Dept., 17 years with the Credit Bureau as a bill collector, and from 1987 to 2000, I was employed as Personal Assistant and National Sales Manager for Duke Ent, which consisted of three radio stations and a billboard company. In between all of that, I went back to school and got my degree in Business. Upon my arrival in OKC, I joined the staff at Hertz Corporation as a National Account Rep for the Equipment Division. I left in December, 2008, and decided to take an early retirement. I was always heavily involved in politics and became friends with President Bill Clinton and Governor Mike Huckabee during my years at the radio stations. I work...Expand for more
ed on their advertising schedules for the State of Arkansas. I now stay involved by email and participation with the Tea Party. I am an avid reader of political and history books. My hobbies are acquiring autographed books and glassware. I stay in contact with my local politicians and those in Washington. When I feel the need, I contact those who are headed down the wrong path and provide them with a nasty letter or email. Russell and I just celebrated our 10th wedding anniv. One of his sons is serving in Afghanistan. Both of my children live in Jonesboro, AR. All of his children are located in OK. We have a Beagle dog named Maxwell Smart. I have never attended a reunion for our class. I wrote Frayser High a few years ago to inquire if a reunion was being planned; however, I never received a reply. I haven't changed too much. My hair is long and blonde, and of course, I am carrying a few extra pounds. I hope that if anyone reads this and has knowledge of a future reunion, you will email a note. It would be fun to see how everyone has changed. By the way, if you don't remember me, I worked on the Ram Page Staff as a news writer. Look up the pictures in the annual and you might recognize me. I loved to laugh, and Miss Bragg was constantly getting on to me. I tried several years ago to contact Susan Gofus, but could never get a reply. I did correspond by email with Bill Haltom, but haven't been in touch in a long time. I hope you have enjoyed my story. It was fun going down memory lane. I always wanted to be a Detective when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were never unhappy.. When I'm mad, I like to get in my car and go somewhere I've never been before. I relax with a hot cup of coffee and a good book. Christy (Brown) Partain
