Christy's Story
Life
Hey everyone!!! Glad that you have found classmates. I have been very busy over the years. I had a career in Finance from 1990-2001 when I quit to take care of my Grandparents. I recently graduated college with a degree in Sign Language Interpretation. I am working at a Center for Independent Living where I am both an Administrative Assistant and an Interpreter it is the best of both worlds for me. I find my career fullfilling and my life is full and happy. My 6 yr old son keeps me very busy. I am also on Facebook as Christy Ferguson of Chicago so check me out.
School
What I remember most about HS was Operation Snowball, CATS, and all my friends. I can't say that those were the best years of my life but they do definatley stand out. I was glad when I found Classmates because I lost touch with everyone when I left Chicago in 1990. I have reconnected with many friends and am having a wonderful time catching up.
College
I graduated in May of 2007 with a degree in Sign Language Interpretation. Hurray!!!
Workplace
When I left Dolton 1990 I went to Memphis, Tn I started working for Blake Enterprises as a clerk and quickly moved up. In 1996 I transfered to a new region (St. Louis)to be a regional supervisor.
I took a leave of absence in 2001 for maternity leave and never went back. Instead I went back home for 2 years to take care of my Gr...Expand for more
andparents until they passed away. Since I graduated college I am working for a company called LINC,Inc. I love my job I am an administrative assistant 32 hrs a week and an Interpreter the rest of the time, all for the same company. This job was a perfect fit I get to use my past skills as an office manager and my new skills as an Interpreter.
Military
The closest I came to the military was being married to John Sargis until 1993. We lived in Tennessee on the Naval base.
Ok so flash forward to 2017
My son is 15 now and I have remarried. My husband retired from the Air Force in 2014 he still works on the Scott Air Force base here in Belleville. I am an at-home Mom now. I put my career aside to be there for our children. My husband also has a son so together we are raising two boys. The boys are both in High School and doing very well , they are best friends.
Update 2023 January My husband and I just celebrated 12 years together. I no longer work in am office environment. I went to school to become a nail tech in 2017. Now I run my own salon out of my home thanks to CoVid. It has been a great experience and I have built up a wonderful clientele. I am thankful that it all ended up working out for the best! I love working from home, although the house is to quiet since both our boys moved out as covid started, so now we are empty nester.
