Christy's Story
I got married right out of high school, then gave birth in Sept. 71 to my son, Shaun, who has been the pride and joy of my life. I divorced my son's father in 1972, as he was what I call a "messed up" Vietnam veteran whom I discovered too late was an alcoholic, drug abuser and last but not least, a spouse and child abuser. My son made me very proud when he served with the 82D Airborne division of the U.S. Army from 1991-1998.
I now have two precious granddaughters, Kelsey (14 years old) and her little sister, Kaeley (7 years old).
I worked for 35 years for Arizona State University before retiring in 2007 to become a caregiver for my elderly parents, in order to help them remain in their home for as long as possible.

of tuition waivers and earned 70 credit hours toward a B.A. in Sociology. Unfortunately I became ill with breast cancer in 1997 and was never strong enough to return to working full time and attending classes. I do, however, have 12 years of survival behind me at this time.
Those who remember me from high school probably remember me as having been very introverted and one who had a very low self-esteem. I was never one of the popular girls -- preferring to hang out with friends who were older and out of high school already.
Nowadays I find caring for my elderly parents as well as two dear friends very satisfying. I take time out to play and have fun with my dog, a terrier mix. She has gotten me to walk again after having had both knees replaced in the past year.
