Chuck's Story

Well folks, after graduating and going to Ohio State, I moved to Colorado. Became a cowboy, opened a restaurant, owned a ranch, started a high tech company, managed a couple of hotels in Aspen and started a software company. Still in Aspen area. Got married for the first time in 2001 to an absolutely beautiful person, Angelica. She was worth waiting 51 years just to find the right person. Angelica is originally from Manizales, Colombia, but now an American citizen. That was an ordeal. It took us 5 years for her to get her citizenship! (I think our immigration system in broke!). We travel a lot both domestically and internationally. Most recently to Barcelona, Spain and the Caribbean. Love going to new places, but getting there, as everyone knows, is really difficult (airports and airlines suck!). Angelica wants to go to London, Capetown and China in the future. I'm not sure about China but I'm sure we will enjoy it. I just don't like Chinese food. I guess I always will be a meat and potato guy. I love gormet cooking, but after owning a restaurant in Colorado Springs I will never do it for a living. Too much work, long hours and not enough money. But, I love cooking for friends and family. I've learned quite a few new recipes including San Cocho (Colombian) and a variety of Tapas (Spain). I especially love fresh seafood. Secret: There's a little restaurant on South Padre Island called "Dirty Al's" that serves up some of the best gulf shrimp and oysters that I've ever tasted. Not a fancy place, but a favorite with the locals. If any of you ever go to South Padre, be sure to go to Dirty Al's. I'd travel a thousand miles just to eat there! Life is good. lousy day in Aspen!" Sorry, I don't miss Cincy one bit. Just not my "cup of tea." Summer in Aspen is beautiful. I came for the skiing, but stayed for the summers. The Aspen Music Festival is amazing each year. It lasts from mid-June to Mid-August. Students from all over the world come here to learn from the masters and perform. I started a software company back in 1998 (ecommerce and web applications). It allows me to work when I want to, travel and spend time with Angelica. Our favorite place to go? A little island off the coast of Puerto Rico called Isal de Culebra. Absolutely magnificent water and wildlife, very few tourists. It's about 15 miles west of St. Thomas. We're getting tired of the cold and snow. It's very tempting to move somewhere warm. Maybe the Caribbean or the soutnern coast of France near the Spanish border. We discovered that area recently and fell in love with it. Small little fishing villages, mild Mediterrainian waters, few tourists and a peaceful setting. Anyway, that's our story. We hope to come to the reunion on September 27 in Cincinnati. I would be very interesting to see everyone. Anyway, Angelica has never been to the midwest and I'd like to share some of it with her. We're both very healthy. I'm doing just about the same things I did when I was 20 years old - hiking, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, rafting and biking. I'm very thankful for that. Angelica loves to take walks and bike and heads to the gym periodically. Of course, hiking around here is magnificent, from short one hour jaunts to multiple day trips into the Maroon Bells Wilderness area. That's all for now. I will try to post a few more pics shortly. Bye for now. Chuck & Angelica
