Cindy's Story

Following my release from AHS ('79), I moved to San Diego and attended Point Loma College. I loved living at the beach and the slower pace of life which San Diego offered, and decided to stay. Two of my brothers, Ken (AHS'63) & Ron (AHS'73) live in OC with their families and Richard (AHS'65) lives in Las Vegas with his family. Sadly, my father, Dave, passed away in July 2004, one month shy of his 90th birthday. He lived a long and full life, and was a very good father to all of us. My mother, Rachel, is still living in the OC, too! After my dad passed away, she sold their home in the Anaheim Colony and moved into a retirement center. She's very self sufficient, keeps busy, and is the "Mrs. America" of the place, as everyone knows her and misses her when she's away. She's very giving, caring & loving and always wants to take care of people. She spoils all of her grand children. I have 6 nephews, 3 nieces, 3 great-nephews and 3-great nieces. They all range in age 6 months to 40 years! I have two teenage sons, Rob (19) and Ken (16 - going on 35 and now knows so much more than I could ever imagine or have experienced myself). Rob is a pitcher and 2nd baseman, he also played soccer for many years. He is attending Palomar College and plans to enlist in the Coast Guard and become a Firefighter/EMT. Kenny, a sophomore at San Pasqual High School, is a leftie pitcher and 1st baseman. Kenny played Travel Rugby for a season. o much fun to be between them sometimes. Both sons like to take their off-road bikes to the desert during the season. We have two dogs: Buddy ("Grandpa") & Yoshi ("Fat Boy"), both orphans/adoptees, whom are as much a part of the family, as we are, or so they think! I have worked in the "Premium Wine Industry" (I know, it figures, right? And "NO", Tickled Pink does not qualify for premium wine anymore...) for over 22 years and really enjoy the wine business, there's never a dull moment learning about wine. I've been fortunate several times to have visited many wine estates, chateaus, bodegas, cities and beautiful countryside throughout the wine growing regions of Europe and New Zealand, in addition to many states throughout the U.S. While every trip is an adventure when traveling with me, one of my most memorable trips was when I was in the south of France near Nice/Caan and the Italian Riviera. I drove to Monaco to see Princess Grace's castle near Monte Carlo. It was breathtaking, I could live there, seriously! Since you've read this far, I hope you'll attend the 30th year AHS 1979 Reunion Weekend next summer. AHS doesn't really seem all that long ago, does it? It will be fun to go back to 1979 for just one weekend! To be 18... Or maybe just to see how some old friends are doing today. And, if I have anything to do with it, we're drinking "GOOD WINE" at our reunion, life's way too short to drink cheap wine! (Definitely not the stuff we used to drink in high school...) Cindy
