My cousins were Anita Hicks (Class of '70) & Janet Hicks (Class of '65). To any visitors from Galena Park, I was married to Doug Westerfield for 37 1/2 years. My story, hmmmmmm, let's start with all the schools I've attended. Cimmaron Elem., Mrs. Richardson (1st grade)& Roland P. Harris (a couple of months, 2nd grade) (both in Houston), Elisabet Ney Elem. (rest of 2nd grade) & A.P. Beutel, Mrs. Parker & Mrs. Cowan, (3rd & 4th grade)(both in Lake Jackson), O.A. Fleming Elem, Mrs. Beakley(?) (5th grade, Freeport, Tx.), Green Valley Elem. (6th grade)(Houston), North Jr. & Senior High (Houston). I became an Air Force wife in Summer 1969. Doug Westerfield was class of '68 at Galena Park. Stationed in Tennessee, Arkansas & Puerto Rico. Had our only child in April 1971. Moved back to Houston from Puerto Rico in October 1972. Worked various jobs here & there, Steak & Ale on I-10 & Mercury, (1974-1979), Real Estate agent at Stafford Real Estate on Hollypark (Houston), an extra in "Urban Cowboy" (great job), Amoco (Texas City), Shell (Pasadena), Craft's Etc., custom frame shop manager (Baytown). Lived in Channelview until May '84, then moved to Old River (outside of Mt. Belvieu). Lost Dad in '89 & Mom in '95. Have 3 Grandchildren. Crystal, Aaron & Courtney. Semi retired to East Texas in Dec.'97. Working at a bank in Center, Texas. Doug became sick in '04, diagnosed with cancer. Lost him in Jan. '07. Started seeing Bull (James Durham, Furr H.S., class of '68) later in '07, great guy, known him since '68. He was best man at mine & Doug's wedding & our daughter's godfather. We've moved 16 miles from where I was living, in Feb. '08. Living on Toledo Bend now. Enjoying life to the fullest. Bull taught me how to bass fish. Just need to figure out how to get them to bite. Will be buying myself a Harley-Davidson, hopefully within a year or when my truck sells. ANYONE NEED A TRUCK ('06 GMC Crew cab)? Hoping to retire at age 60 (1 year & 10 months to go). Then want to see the USA on 2 wheels. Found out in Nov.2009 that I'll be a great-grandma in June-July 2010. Well, in Jan. 2010, I had a heart cath & 2 stents put in. Recovered & still having fun (never too old for that). Found out that if I'm 60 & already recieving the s.s. widows pension, I can get married & still recieve the check (I won't lose it). Sooooo, in 2012, I'm getting married & retiring. If you have looked at my pictures, you've seen Bull. He's going to the reunion, too. Can't wait for everyone to meet him, GREAT GUY !!!!!!! Going to New Orleans in April for vacation. Got a great place to stay in the French Quarter. I haven't been there since Summer '64. He's never been there. Can't wait to go. Well, as of Sat., March 6, we are officially engaged. I GOT THE RING !!!!! (it's beautiful) Still looking at a 2012 wedding. 05/16/2010 - Had a great time in the Big Easy. Still didn't see everything. Going back again one of these days. Last Wednesday (May 12th), I'd had enough, told the bank that Friday was my last day. I'm unemployed (hooray).
