" I expect to pass through life but once. If therefore, there be any kindness I can show, or any good thing I can do for any fellow being, let me do it now, and not defer or neglect it, as I shall not pass this way again." The eagle born to those who pledged their lives and sacred honor was smiled upon by God and freed from chains and iron collar. He is held aloft on unity and by history revered; for preserving peace through strength his wings now reach across two hundred years. But for each of those and one year more, God has smiled upon The Corps, from the Barbary Coast to the Eastern Sand, by sword, by gun, or by bare hand. So it's been, and shall be weighed: though many are born, few are "made". Faithful Always, they shall remain, dogs to loose when war is waged. Tracy Garcia. We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace. - Albert Schweitzer "Never ignore a person that loves you, cares for you, and misses you. Because one day, you might wake up from your sleep and realize that you lost the moon while counting stars." (— Unknown) An old Cherokee Indian once told his grandson, My son ,there is a battle between two wolves inside us all . One is evil . It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, humility, kindness, empathy and truth. The boy thought about it and asked "Grandfather which wolf wins ?" The old man quietly replied. "The one you feed" !! The eagle born to those who pledged their lives and sacred honor was smiled upon by God and freed from chains and iron collar. There are 5 things in life you cannot recover: A punch...after it's thrown. A word...after it is said. An occasion...after it's missed. The time...after it's gone. A person...after they die. Life is short. Break the rules. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably. And never regret anything that made you smile, Enjoy Life For all you single gals, quick Bible lesson: Ruth patiently waited for her mate Boaz. While waiting on YOUR Boaz, don't settle for any of his relatives. Brokaz, Poaz, Lyinaz, Cheatinaz, Dumaz, Downloaz, Cheapaz, Lockedupaz, Goodfornothingaz, Lazyaz, or Marriedaz! And especially his third cousin Beatinyoaz. Please wait on your Boaz and make sure he respects Yoaz. "Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only with what you are expecting to give - which is everything." ~ Katharine Hepburn Shifting the Odds "I am sometimes asked "Why do you spend so much of your time and money talking about kindness to animals when there is so much cruelty to men?" I answer: "I am working at the roots."" ~ George T. Angell (1823-1909) There are two ways of spreading light... To be the candle, or the mirror that reflects it.~Edith Wharton ... Prayer is not an old woman's idle amusement. Properly understood and applied, it is the most potent instrument of action. ~ Mahatma Ghandi ~*“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.”*~ Albert Pike Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. ~Mark Twain The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes. ~ Marcel Proust Always write angry letters to your enemies. Never mail them. ~James Fallows “What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly.” never think that god's delays are god's denials. hold on; hold fast; hold out. patience is genius. Aw, the tender moments that etch themselves on our hearts forever. The times we draw upon when our tanks are low & we need some reassurance that what we do counts, these are the memories that come to mind to fill us back up with the love t...hat we so freely give our babies. And of course they are the ones that give back way more than we give to them. What a fine, beautiful moment to tuck away in the corner of your heart forever. Me, 4/13/11 "His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is my dog." - Gene Hill I must say...that more unmanly, brutal treatment of a little pony it was never my painful lot to witness; and by giving way to such passion, you injure your own character as much, nay more, than you injure your horse, and remember, we shall all have to be judged according to our works, whether they be towards man or towards beast. -An...na Sewell, Black Beauty "The truth is, everyone is going to hurt you. You just got to find the ones worth suffering for." — Bob Marley I try because I care. I hurt because I care. I cry because I care. I care because I know hurt. I hurt because I know how to care. I cry because I know the pain. What do you know? Is it the head in the sand ignoring the plight of the underdog? Is it ignorance because ignorance is bliss? Does it cost too much to care? Then who will care about you? When they come for you who will stand in your defense? Me “My soul, sit thou a patient looker-on; Judge not the play before the play is done: Her plot hath many changes; every day Speaks a new scene; the last act crowns the play.”Francis Quarles I walked into the heart of a friend, and found a home. "If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans." d by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” - Albert Schweitzer. Work for a cause, not for applause. Live life to express, not to impress. Don't strive to make your presence noticed, just make your absence felt. - Unknown After awhile you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, And you learn that love doesn’t mean security, And you begin to learn that kisses aren’t contracts, and presents aren’t promises, And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child, And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is too uncertain for plans, and futures have a way of falling down in ...mid-flight. After awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. So you plant your garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure… That you really are strong, And you really do have worth." –Veronica A. Shof Cindy JaneIs wishing it was not like this but it is what it is. I will miss you more than you will ever know. I will always be here for you even though it is you that has left. I wish I could have been right instead of wrong. As you watch me walk away, remember that I was yours if only for a little while. Hearts will heal, life goes on, memories last forever. Tears stain a face and leaves trails down a heart. ME! 10/27/10 How we handle our losses defines who we are. When we acknowledge them we can grow when we ignore them we cannot. To acknowledge & grow is healthy. All stages of grief teach us something about us & our lives. Every experience in our life touches us. How we respond to them help to define who we are. Life without loss is not life. Love without pain is impossible. It is not safe to love but it is lonely not to. ~Me~ Have courage for the greatest sorrows of life and patience for the small ones; and when you have laboriously accomplished your task, go to sleep. God is awake..... When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion..., who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.~ Henri Nouwen, Out of Solitude. Men cannot think like dogs.... [There exists] a sharp difference in the mental capacity of humans and canines. For example, a human who is given an intricate problem will spend all day trying to solve it, but a canine will have the sense to give up and do something else instead.~~Corey Ford "Before you speak to me about your religion, first show it to me in how you treat other people;before you tell me how much you love your God,show me how much you love all His children;before you preach to me of your passion for your faith, teach me about it through your compassion for your neighbors. In the end,I'm not as interested in ...what you have to tell or sell as in how you choose to live and give."-Cory Booker ""Being a leader is a lot like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are one, you aren't." -Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher One asked which is worse, "Person that lies and spreads bunch of rumors or the people that believe them. One responded: "The person that believes them, anybody that takes anything at face value without doing their own due diligence is an imbecile." Do not be afraid of Tomorrow for God is already there! Blessings to my friends & family. May your day be blessed & filled with grace. May it be a good day, may you be treated with kindness & treat others with kindness. May your burdens be light, your heart full of joy, your soul at ease & your mind at peace It isnt wise to make assumptions about prices...sometimes true friends are worth far more than what I can pull out of my wallet. Brenda Carol Adams. "Live, laugh, love, forgive and forget, life is to short to live with regrets, so love the people who treat you right, and forget the ones who don't!" "Being a pit bull owner is as much a part of my self-identity as anything else. Owning a pit bull is a rare opportunity for me to experience how fear and bigotry can affect a person’s life and this fleeting glimpse has been plenty. Bigotry by proxy is more than enough bigotry for me." - Anthony Barnett, Founder/Director, Game Dog Guardian *Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to. - Alfred A. Montapert "I suspect that we cherish dogs because their unblemished souls make us wish that we were as innocent as they are, and make us yearn for a place where innocence is universal and where the meanness, the betrayals and cruelties of this world are unknown" --Dean Koontz (from his book "A Big Little Life", about his beloved dog 'Trixie') "I Am An Animal Rescuer" I have bought dog food with my last dime, I have patted a mangy head with a bare hand. I have hugged someone vicious and afraid. I have fallen in love a thousand times, and I have cried into the fur of a lifeless body too many times to count. I am an Animal Rescuer. My work is never done, my ho...me is never quiet, my wallet is always empty - but my heart is always full. ♥ ♥ ♥ Think occasionally of the suffering of which you spare yourself the sight -Albert Schweitzer ♥ Heaven is by favor; if it were by merit your dog would go in and you would stay out. Of all the creatures ever made [man] is the most detestable. Of the entire brood, he is the only one... that possesses malice. He is the only creature that inflicts pain for sport, knowing it to be pain. ♥ ~Mark Twain~ ♥ It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are Why does a slight tax increase cost you 200 dollars, and a substantial tax cut saves you 30 cents? In the 60's, people took LSD to make the world weird. Now world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal. We know exactly where one cow with mad-cow-disease is located among the millions of cows in America, but we haven't a clue as to where thousands of and terrorists are located!~~Ravi Kochar ♥ "If we are so superior to all the other animals, like you say, then maybe we should start acting like it. We should hold ourselves to a higher standard."♥ - Mahatma Gandhi".
