Cindy's Story

Life July 17, 2007 Life since high school has been quite a whirlwind. I got married to Brian Lyons who I met at YSU who is from Boardman in 1993, and we moved to Louisville, Kentucky where I finished my college education. After living there for about a year and a half, we moved to Houston, Texas. I really liked it there, but it was hard being so far away from home and family. I had a great job in sales with Compaq, but I was fortunate enough to be able to quit when I had my daughter, Brianna. I wasn't sure being a stay-at-home mom was for me, but as it turns out 10 1/2 years later, it's been great!! We lived in Texas until May of 2000. Brian got an opportunity with Compaq at that time to move closer to home, which turned out to be Cincinnati. My parents, my brother and his family, and my grandma had all moved here while I was living in Texas, so I immediately felt right at home. It's also only 4 1/2 hours from Hubbard, so it's easy to go and visit the rest of our families there too. In addition to my fiesty daughter, Brianna who is 10 1/2 going on 15, I have a son named Thomas who is 8 1/2 and another son, Sean who will be 6 in 2 months. I can't believe how quickly they are all growing up. Now that all three of them will finally be in school this year, I'm going to go back to college at the University of Cincinnati for another degree. I think I must be nuts! Being at home with the kids has been wonderf...Expand for more
ul, but I've been itching to get back to work. I'm going to get a Special Education degree, and I'm so excited about it. As I mentioned, Brian and I have been married for 14 years.....God, I feel old! He works for Hewlett Packard as an Network Architect(Computer Engineer). It's been a great career for him. The only down side is that he has to travel quite a bit, but the kids and I have gotten used to it. Speaking of the kids, all three of them are really into sports. I'm so glad about that, because when I was growing up I never really was athletic. Brianna and Thomas fortunately got their athletic ability from their dad, and they both play on Select Soccer teams....yes, I guess I'm a soccer mom. I love watching them play. Their schedules are pretty demanding, but it's all worth it, because they love it so much. Brianna plays year-round, but Thomas plays basketball in the winter too. Sean, of course wants to do everything that his siblings do, so he started playing recreational soccer about a year ago. My life pretty much revolves around the kids, but when I have the chance I'm usually helping out at school, going to the gym, jogging and spending time with friends. We love to travel, so we take a lot of weekend trips too. What can I say, I feel very blessed to be where I am at this point in my life. For anyone who is reading this, I wish you well, and it would be great to hear from you. Take care!!!
