Cindy's Story

I realized early on that working an 8 hour a day job would get your bills paid but wouldn't propel you forward too fulfill your goals and dreams. The quick down and dirty is I found a system within a mass retail environment that was not being handled by any products (software) currently on the market. I started building it, marketed the product to companies that already were in retail software development, found a couple of companies truly interested in taking on the project to finish building it with me, used them against each other to negotiate the best deal and moved to GA to build my dream (93). Well, I did just that and finished. It is still being used in mass retailers today and it is still the only product of its kind on the market. I know longer have any rights to it now, it was sold in 99 to a CA company. I am now an entrepenuer, have been for several years now. My husband and I have started several successful companies, the company I am currently doing is my own, I've been at it for 4 years now, we've seen a dramatic increase in revenues, that is until the recession hit, then sales dropped. But, through cost cutting measures we are able to continue on our path. I'm blessed to have my son as my partner in this venture, its tough at times, but where else can you get the training necessary to start up a business from scratch and take it national. They don't teach you that kind of stuff in school, it only comes from the school of hard knocks (which I graduated from more than once). As the years have gone by the one thing that I hav...Expand for more
e never forgotten is where I came from. I still come back to Highland Crest to visit my family members, and its like a trip down memory lane. My home is now Georgia, I did fall in love with the flowers and trees and the people, always upbeat, and no winter, yeah! Now I'm going to pass on some wisdom that I have self applied throughout my life. So hello to everyone, I hope your lives have turned out the way you expected. And if it didn't, why? My favorite quote "Oz never gave nothing to the Tin Man that he didn't already have". Translation, everything that you need to change your life and be a success (success is determined by each individual and there own value system), you already have in you. You have to find that strength and do not let fear hold you back, use it as the catalyst to push you forward, YOU CAN accomplish everything IF you want it bad enough, just walk it out. I know its tough, and hard and all the other things, been there, done it, and still doing it. The difference is, I know I will succeed, failure is only one way of not doing it, so do it again and again and again...... Lastly, I do have a peeve, and I'll put it here for everyone to read, this classmates is such a rip, they hook you, give you the free account, but want you to PAY when someone signs your guestbook, by signing up for the Gold Membership. Okay, peeve has been spoken. Take care all, I can be reached through this venue, face book as Cindy Ames, Linked In and in the Turner High School Directory that they tried to get us to purchase, but didn't. See ya!
