Cindy's Story

Life I was married to a very wonderful man, whom I cherish as much as he cherishes me, on September 27, 2008. We have 3 grown children and 2 grand daughters that are joy of our life. After many years in the emergency services field and a motor vehicle accident, my body has said it had enough and I have been forced to retire early. I am still the EMA Coordinator in our township. I am now enjoying the little things in life that I was too busy to notice before...talk about a blessing in disguise. I spend alot of my time cooking and baking for family and friends. I also have been trying to see Pennsylvania in day trips. My new husband purchased my family home for us in Hobbie. We are enjoying every minute of the redecorating process. One of our favorite things to do is sit on our porch with a glass of wine and listen to hear the coyote pups at play and the occasional screech owl. I would really like to talk to some friends from school. My kids thought I was nuts when I told them that I really liked high school and had fun. To this day I can't look at a doughnut without thinking of pushing that food prep doughnut cart from shop to shop. I always wanted to be a police office when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a bad idea idea. As it turns out, they were partly wrong.I went into the emergency field instead. My favorite way to blw off stem is to either bake something I really love or walk outside and enjoy the wonders that God gave us. I had a very dear friend named Alice Manis during our Sophmore and Jr. years. She moved away to Coropolis and I would love to find her again. I have a very deep obsession with my grandchildren, family, church and the Philadelphia Eagles. I seem to be a pet collector. 1 Boarder collie mix, 1 deaf Rottie, 1 Schnoodle, 3 cats - one of them is blind, a rabbit and a guinea hen that things we're it's parents. I truley thought my life was going to the pits. My back is disenigrating and I am in pain most of the time. I was very depressed until a friend bluntly told me that I didn't fail, but had acheived my dream carreer. I didn't last long but I did achieve it. My biggest surprise was finding a man who accepts me as I am and knows there will be continuous problems. I've watched my children, who came from our broken home, develope into wonderful adults with wonderful spouse's, and I have learned that I mustn't have done a bad job as a mom. Mr. Creasy was my favorite teacher. He had a way of instilling self esteem in me. I have seen him off and on through the years and wish I could see him more. Boy these questions they want you to answer are a bit weird. If I won $100 million I'd pay off my home. Then I would do the same for my parents and siblings and my children.I would give a donation to my church to ensure it's standing for a long time to come. I would then set up a program for the elderly who are unable to purchase their much needed perscription medications. I would have to give deep thought to the res...Expand for more
t of it. I am truly happy now. It took quite a while to get here....I was happy before and just didn't know it. I just turned 49. Ithink back and used to think that that was old! However when I was pregnant at 18 and my Mom was pregnant at the same time (she was 42), I realized that the older we get, the closer in sge we get. Can you believe that pallazo pants are back! Ok, the peasant blouses are cute again. I wish I didn't get rid of all these things, my kids could be wearing them. I most definatly will never fit into a 2 again! The weirdest job I ever had was working in a trucking company garage. I did everything from painting, graphiting and inspections on car carriers to the complete building of their limo garage and detailing the limos. Over the years I have entered cake and gingerbread contests. I have mnay ribbons and tropheys for that. Now my biggest compensation is the look on my childrens faces as I make their wedding and special occasion cakes. I don'tthink I woould do anything differently. I have had some rough roads but I believe they have prepared me for my future. In 10 years I hope to be still sharing my love with my husband and family. I look forward to growing old and holding hands while sitting on the porch swing still listening for the coyotes. I met my oldest friend Teri, when I moved her from the Philly area. She was the first person to approach me and ask questions. We became very close and then moved apart for high school. We,ve recently reconnected and have been intouch with each other at least weekly. The thing that would surprise the most st my reunion would be that I gained almost 60 pounds with my medicines and I occasionally use a walking stick (I refuse to call it a cane). My first job was at 15 years old. I worked Patti Wintersteen at Sparr nursing home. I don't remember how much we got paid, but I thought it was very reasonable at the time. I remember most the sadded feeling of patients who never recieved visitors on special occasions. Patti and I would volunteer to work Christmas so we could bring a little joy into their lives. A childhood memory I will never forget was when one of the police officers where I used to live was shot and killed. My father was there and it could very well have been him. This was during the period of integrations at out schools.I still think instead of everybody hiding the details of what integration was that we children of this time would have had a better chance to get along, because we would have been better prepared as to who we were meeting. A few of us took it with a grain of salt but others who had angry biggoted parents were confused. My Mom & Dad moved us back home to the area they live in before work at the steel mill called the to Philly. I was mad at first. I had to leave my friends and our weekend walks to the mall. Here, we didn't have store within 13 miles. Now,36 years later, I'm still trying to welcome newcomers as all from these small rural towns welcomed us.
