Clara's Story
After graduation, I worked at Porterville State Hospital for 3 years and moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin where I lasted for 3 months. I relocated to the San Francisco Bay area and worked in various positions. In 1962 I accepted a permanent position with the Federal Government as an Administrative Clerk GS-4 and worked in Oakland at the Naval Supply Center for 2 years and was promoted to Administrative clerk GS-5 at Treasure Island Naval Base. promotion as Administrative Assistant where I worked for 23 years. Realizing that retirement age was approaching, I made 2 additional moves which were both promotions and ended my career at Naval Air Station Alameda as a Housing Manager serving the military. I retired in 1995 with no regrets! Retirement is a beautiful way to live and enjoy!
The farthest location I have traveled has been to the Fiji Islands in 2005. Visited Hawaii on 3 separate vacations and have taken 2 cruises
