Clarence's Story
Life
Currenty 75, living in beautiful Southwest Washington State on a 7 1/2 acre private park. Complete with woods and a dammed steam (two small lakes). Yes, there are trout in the lakes. Unfortunately, I am also the "Park Ranger". I have retired three times and finally got it right. After two years as an Apprentice Machinist at ALCOA, I enlisted in the Navy where I spent 21 years. My career field was Aviation Electronics and I advanced through the enlisted ranks to Chief Petty Officer, before being Commissioned after Nine years of service. I cross trained as both an electroincs maintenance officer and an aircraft maintenance officer. I manged to complete my BA dgree before retiring from the Navy in 1973. I worked for Burroughs Corp in producion management on computer mainframes for two years before starting a second 21 year career, in School/College maintenance administration. I also picked up a MA degree at Calif. Polytechical State University, San Luis Obispo. I eventually retired from Glendale Community College(Calif.) in 1990 as Director of...Expand for more
Facilities. I then accepted a positon in the same capacity at Mt Hood Community College in Oregon, retiring for the third and final time in 1996. Hobbies include playing with old British Sports cars, primarily MG's, woodworking, a little metal working (Yes, I finally have my own lathe and milling machine)and of course perfoem much yard work on my private park. We travel at every opportunity and have been to the far East and Europe several times. We try to get to Hawaii for two or three weeks for a sun break every Feb or March. It is a Northwest thing. We have taken a couple of major motorhome trips over the past five years, but have recently sold the motorhome and now travel by car or plane. I did eventually learn to fly in 1977-78 and at that time purchased a new Cessna aircraft, which I no longer own. I was diagnosed with senior onset diabeties several years ago and no long attempt to pass a flight physical. Doing well health wise as I control it with medication only. Would love to hear from classmates and other old friends from new Kensington.
