Clark Straw:  

After graduating from HHS, went to Texas Tech and studied electrical engineering. Married Suzy Rydman (HHS Class of 66) in 1968. Graduated with BS in Elec Eng in 1969. Worked for Hewlett Packard from 1969 until 1999. Attended law school at St. Mary's U and received MS in Management and Administrative Sciences from UT-Dallas in 1975. Lived in Colorado Springs, San Antonio, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston and San Diego with HP. Was General Manager for HP operations in Texas, General Manager for US Sales, Marketing & Support for HP Computers and Worldwide GM for HP Channels & Alliances. Retired after 30 years at HP and in 1999 became Executive VP & GM for Hitachi Data Systems. Retired again in 2000 and sailed our yacht, Final Straw, across the Pacific on a seven year trip (2001-2008) to Australia chronicled on our website, sailfinalstraw dot com. It was an adventure of a lifetime! I had the honor of sailing aboard Americas Cup racing yacht Stars & Stripes as 17th man, an honorary position, in an Americas Cup race in 2000 on the Harauki Gulf of New Zealand. We raced against the French yacht, Le Defi, winning by 43 seconds. Americas Cup winner and Olympic gold medalist, Dennis Conner, was skipper. He gave me the honor of taking the helm of Stars & Stripes for the sail back to Auckland through the spectator fleet of hundreds of boats and cheering crowds, an incredibly exciting sailing memory.
