Claudette P.'s Story
Life
Living still in Chicago. Received my master's degree in management in 1999! Would like to hear from any former classmates (any level). Tell me what you're doing. Retired from my job in August 2005 and started a company that custom designs scrapbooks, invitations, greeting cards, and other small paper goods. Had to close it due to the economy at that time. Am now living in a senior citizen complex in a spectacular setting. Love it here!
School
Went to Haines from 1955 through 1960, then to Daniel Hale Williams and graduated in June 1962. Went to Richard's Vocational for a semester, then Holden. Transferred to Jones Commercial in 1964 and graduated in June 1966. Went to work as a secretary, worked my way up to a supervisor at various businesses, then finally made the plunge to go to college and not only got a bachelor's degree, but also a master's in management! One of my memories ...Expand for more
was Mr. Gibson from Williams and his constant picking me out in line because he was sure I was chewing gum (remember when we couldn't do that?), and finding out that what I was chewing on was the remnants of the coconut doughnut I had that morning.
Workplace
Began as a steno in an insurance company steno pool, then to a place where I was a secretary in different departments. After that, I continued to work as a secretary, then gradually accepted positions at a more office management level at various places. Since my college degrees, I was a Director, Human Resources. I retired in August 2005 and started my own business, custom design of scrapbooks, invitations, greeting cards, and other small paper goods. As I said though, because of the economy, I've had to close the business. As I said in the first paragraph, I have three part-time, free-lance jobs, but now only one. Gotta keep busy.
