When I graduated from Central I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but I wasn't going to do it on this side of the Puget Sound. I knew college was pretty much out of my agenda because I had 4 younger siblings so there was no money coming from my parents and although my grades weren't bad a grant or scholarship wasn't coming my way either. That meant I was going to have to go to work and boy was I ready! I wanted my own space! So, I turned 18 in August and by October the Civil Service came knocking and within 2 weeks I was employed. I moved to Seattle on January 1, 1974 and was on my own at last! Free as a bird. I loved it! I was not going to get married I told myself I was going to stay single until I was at least 40!
