Clayton's Story
Life
Married. Eight grown children.Nine grandchildren. Writings include: "The Ikon"--the Phelan Award winning novel of the Korea War, "The Father of the Family," a non fiction work that has been in print since 1961, and is available in Italian, Croation, as well
as English. "How to Raise Parents" , "Dante and Gentucca". "Delivering the Male,"
"The Joy of Marriage'. "Art, Obscenity and your Children," "The Generation of Love,"
are among my non fiction works. My book "The Father of the Family" a Christian perspective and winner of the Spiritual Life Award is now in its 54thyear in print.
I lectured internationally. Recently completed a South Asia Lecture trip. In one sixteen month period I lectured in 24 countries and 33 American cities. My five part series "Creating Family" was seen on 54 PBS stations, and various lectures are available on DVD's, including "Intimacy--the Loving Connection",
"Coping", and "The Survival Series" Every two years I would address 38000 people in
the Anaheim Arena and have a wonderful time. I recently decided to retire from the
lecturing---airports were getting to be unpleasant and service, even in first class, was deteriorating.
For about 45 years I have enjoyed my work as a psychotherapist, doing
individual and couple counseling. My book, "The Father of the Family," was

used in formulating some of the teachings that came out of Vatican Council.
My first novel, The Ikon, received the James D. Phelan Award in Literature.
My PBS series "Creating Family" appeared on 54 PBS stations.
Author of various non-fiction and fiction works. "How to Raise Parents,"

One of my first books, The Father of the Family--A Christian Perspective was published in 1961 (in which year it won the "Spiritual Life Award") translated into Italian for the Bishops during Vatican II, also published in a Croation translation is now in its 54th year in print.
I recently moved my residence and my private practice as a psychotherapist from San Francisco to San Jose. In my work with individuals and couples I find joy. It is always a delight to see cadavers come to life!
Military
Served in the 224th Infantry Regiment, popularly known as the "Galahad Regimental Combat Team," during the Korean War, earned Combat Infantryman's Badge and a Bronze Star. My novel, The Ikon" was rooted in that experience. It won the James Phelan Award in Literature.
