Cleo's Story
Life
I have 8 grandchildren now, 4 girls and 4 grandsons now, They are my pride and joys. I love them all.
I divorced in 2000 from my husband of 20 yrs. People grow apart, we ended up on different paths, with different goals, we out grew each other but still are friends. We are in contact with each other when our kids or grandkids need something. It took a minute to get to this point in our relationship tho. they say time can heal if you let it, and to let go of the pasts and work for the now for a better future.
Any way 2 yrs after my divorce I went back to school at night and on weekends. I had a few previous college credits from some night classes I took here and there but not enough to count towards anything. However it was a enough for agood start to get back into college.
I was working a full time suporting my three children, took classes at night and some week ends. There was always a ton of reading, home work and more reading with more homework. Two of my kids were still in high school. Some days I still don't know how we all made it to graduation, it was a struggle. They say "What don't kill ya makes ya stronger". I believe it now.
I graduated from The Evergreen State College June 10, 2005. My youngest son and daughter graduated from high school June of 2004. It was hard keeping us ...Expand for more
all on track for graduation. I was going to "take a break" from school after my dad passed away on October 25th 2004, my kids made me stick it out. "You didn't let us Take a Break so why should you. You got to luv them when they use your own words against you.
I went to Maui with some friend for a graduation present. This gift was from my kids and family. I'd like to go back to Maui one of these days it's so pretty there.
In my free time I help work with athe Squalli -abs Drum & Dance group for our tribe. That is one of my passions in life, making sure the culture is passed on to the younger ones, so it is not lost with time. Plus I have been involved with our Squalli-abs canoe family for ten yrs. This 2009 canoe journey will be my last yr to pull in the canoe. It will be my tenth yr pulling so I am retiring my paddle. I will still be involved with our canoe family activities just not a puller any more. Takes too long to recover after each canoe journey. I will miss being out on the water it is sooo very cool and peacefull.
If the place I work for had a retirement plan when I first started working for them almost 33 years ago I would be able to retire in Aug. Oh well guess I work until I'm 67.6 or until I win big playing Lotto. Smile it could happen...maybe doesn't,hurt to have a dream.
