Cliff's Story

Life CLIFTON L. BLOUNT MASTER SERGEANT (R) Master Sergeant (R) Clifton L. Blount is a native of Ft. Barnwell, North Carolina and presently resides in Hagerstown, Maryland. His Army career began in December 1983. He attended Basic Individual Training at Fort McClellan, Alabama, which was directly followed by Advanced Individual Training for MOS 76J (Medical Supply Specialist) at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. During his 20 year career he held numerous medical logistics positions world-wide and held an array of leadership positions. Prior to his last assignment as Non-Commissioned Officer In-Charge (NCOIC), Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, Master Sergeant Blount served as NCOIC in the Logistics Division, Dewitt Army Community Hospital, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Previous assignments include: Platoon Sergeant, Alpha Company 226th, Medical Logistics Battalion (Forward), Miesau, Germany; Platoon Sergeant, 30th Medical Brigade (Forward) Task Force Medical Falcon, Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo; NCOIC, Hospital Logistics Division, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, DC. Other assignments include: Medical Advisor, Readiness Group, Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania; Detachment First Sergeant, 6th Medical Materiel Management Center, Fort Detrick, Maryland; Medical Supply Sergeant, U.S. Army Medical Materiel Agency (Fielding Team), Fort Detrick, Maryland; Platoon Sergeant, Alpha Company, 16th Medical Logistics Battalion, Camp Carroll, Korea. His military education includes; the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Course, AMEDD Basic NCO Course, and the Primary Leadership Development Course. He has also completed the Medical Logistics Management Internship Program and numerous logistics and acquisitions management courses. He also attended The Darden Business School, University of Virginia, the Advanced Program in Logistics and Technology, Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Penn State Executive Program. He is a member of the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC), Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and certified in Leadership through the American Management Association. His awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal (Fourth Award), Army Commendation Medal (Sixth Award), Army Achievement Medal (Fourth Award), Good Conduct Medal (Sixth Award), National Defense Medal (Second Award), Kosovo Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, NATO Medal, Silver German Marksmanship Badge, Air Assault Badge, and inducted into the prestigious Order of Military Medical Merit. He is currently an Office Director, for the Office of Supply and Warehouse Management for the Social Security Administration located in Baltimore, Maryland with responsibilities of managing over 250 federal employees and an annual budget exceeding $16 million dollars.
