SIGNIFICANT OTHER:
Though divorced in 1981, since 1992 I have shared my life again with my ex, Michael. In 2005 we retired and moved from Vancouver, WA to rural north central Missouri. Perfect peace!
CHILDREN:
I have two daughters.
Kristine was born in 1967, lives in Missouri with hubby, two sons and 5 step-children.
Robin was born in 1973, lives in Houston, TX with hubby, three sons and daughter.
Have 15 great grandchildren.
WORK
I did interesting work over the years with places like the IRS, Dept of Defense, Veterans Administration, Hewlett Packard and most recently, Intel.
After leaving Intel, my daughter and I looked around at what was needed and wanted and decided to start a new/used children and Maternity/nursing wear store. What a fun place that was.
SCHOOL
High School was ...Expand for more
a blur in many ways. Somewhere in there were classes and learning. I had my first serious love.....first car....first job. I was in a big hurry to grow up! I lived in my own apartment the last part of my senior year, so for me the life most kids move toward had already begun.
COLLEGE
I raised my kids and then returned to finish my bachelor degree. If I had been smart I would have taken advantage of the G.I. Bill for schooling when I had the chance...even if it meant juggling kids and an education. Instead I got to later pay for school myself.
MILITARY
I went into the Marine Corps in 1963 when it was not a popular field for women to enter. Nationwide they only accepted 1,500/year. I did well and received a meritorious promotion out of boot camp, had my picture in the Leatherneck Magazine and in recruiting papers. I also spent time in the Air Force Reserves, flew often and spent time in Korea.
I've stayed involved in local veterans activities and even chaired a committee to erect a 13,000 pound memorial for those who lost their lives in war from our community. Five year project, lot's of work and hoops to jump through...and probably one of the most memorable volunteer events I've ever worked on.
