Colin's Story
Life
I didn't actually graduate with you in the class of 72 because my family left Decatur for Boulder Colorado in Nov of 1970. I haven't stopped moving around since, though I've never forgotten my friends and classmates at Stephen Decatur High. I still consider the Running Reds my team. I married for the first time in March 2010. I was surprised to hear that they had closed SDHS. I have good memories of the place and Decatur. I visited Decatur last summer and saw the new Stephen Decatur Middle School and the new buildings and memorial where the High school was. The old neighborhood is all changed and I don't think there is anybody left that I knew. It was a great place to grow up.
College
University of Colorado - 1 semester, what was I doing? Shipyard, Western WAshington Univeristy - Bellingham Washington, BS in Environmental Studies after getting laid off from the shipyard. And where did it all get me? Still in a shipyard, but that's coming to an end April of 07 as I move back to Colorado closer to family there. Now with the Boulder Valley School District as an Environmental Technician.
Workplace
Worked in mountain camp in Colorado - awesome experience - doing general maintenance work, washing dishes, cutting some very big trees and splitting firewood. Shipyards in San Diego and Guam while in the Navy. Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton WA as a civilian empoyee. City of Boulder Mountain Parks, misc others between times. The last 6 years have been more on the computer side, working in CAD programs and a photogrammetry program. I'm ready to start something new again. And I did.
Military
Navy from 1979 to 1983. Welder/firefighter. San Diego and Guam. Lifted some weights but never wrestled again after high school.
