Colleen's Story
Where I've been and what I've done:
I'll try to keep this somewhat brief and hopefully, not too boring. ;-)
I worked at Tinker from 1980 till 1991. During that time, I also went to college at Oscar Rose and CSU. I got married in 1984. In 1991, I took a job at the FAA Center. I had a son that year then had a daughter in 1994. They are such wonderful people. I'm so proud of them both.
In 1997, I finished my bachelors degree at SNU. One year later, I quit working for the FAA and started helping with husband in his software business. We moved to Arizona in 1999 then bought a house in 2004. My son recently started his own landscape maintenance business, which is something there is always a need for in Phoenix, so I guess we're here for the long haul. I love Arizona because of its diverse topography (desert, mountain, and forest) and the weather. Phoenix has beautiful winters, but if we want to go snow ski, it's less than 2 hours north in Flagstaff. There is so much natural beauty to see in our state.
In my spare time (such that it is), I love to read and write. I know this sounds cliche, but I really want to write a novel. As some of you may remember, I used to like drawing pictures, but I don't do that much anymore. I enjoy square dancing and clog dancing. Well, any dancing, really. I also sew when I can. t when my family goes snow skiing, I tend to hang out at the lodge, a book in one hand and a cup of cocoa in the other.
As for the Christ family, my brother Leslie died unexpectedly in 1981 from an aneurysm. We lost our father Keith earlier this year when he had a heart attack. We miss them both terribly.
My mother is still in Choctaw. My sister Vickie has 2 kids in college and lives in Texas, where she works at a bank. My sister Belinda teaches drama and AP classes at an Oklahoma City high school. She and I went to Paris together in 2006. It was the most exciting, fascinating place I've ever been to. I would love to go back someday and spend a month there, if I could.
My favorite things (other than the hobbies mentioned above): Watching "Mad Men" on AMC and "Project Runway" on Bravo; going to the theater when I can (we have a great one here, with ASU just a half-hour away); spending time with my family; watching documentary shows and British films (especially period pieces like "Pride and Prejudice") and mini-series. I love stories by Jane Austen, J.R.R. Toklein (Frodo lives!), the Brontes, J.K. Rowling, and Thomas Hardy and films based on their work. I also read and write fanfic, mostly in the Harry Potter realm. I know, I'm a bit of a geek (nothing's changed) - but if you know what fanfic is, you're probably a geek too. ;-)
