Colleen's Story

Hell-o "old" (ha!!) highschool friends. How are all of you doing? Here is a re-cap of the last few years of what I have been doing: I married Robin Annesley. As of June 25, 2008, we will celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. We have 3 daughters and one grandson. Our oldest daughter is Tahnie, who is 30 years old and lives in Moose Jaw. She is married to Sterling MacDiarmid and they have a 3 year old son, Tate, who is the joy of our life. He is the little son we never had. Tahnie is a hair dresser and recently bought her own hair dressing salon in Moose Jaw and it is called "Velvet". It is on the last block of Main Street on the east side of the street. She is doing very well with her new business. Her husband, Sterling, is a fireman. Our middle daughter is Kirsten, who is 28 years old and lives and works in Whistler, B. C. She is the accountant at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Course Resort. She is single and loves to golf and snowboard, so a good place for her to be living and working. Our youngest daugher is Courtney, who is 26 years old and lives in Regina and is a Computer Analyst. She recently, on Feb. 14, 2008, got married in Thailand on a beautiful little island, to a Moose Jaw boy, Chris Zerr. So we have 2 daughters married off and 1 to go. My husband, Robin, is still a fireman for the City of Moose Jaw. I have worked for Sask Water/Saskatchewan Watershed Authority for approx. 23 years and am considering retiring and enjoying life. We just returned from Thailand, from our daughter's wedding, where we spent 5 weeks touring the country and little islands. We still live in the City of Moos...Expand for more
e Jaw and have a house at Buffalo Pound Lake. We had a cabin at the lake for the last 30 years and then we decided to tear the old place down and build a new home. Robin has done all the work himself, so it has been slow going, but it is a very nice house. We might retire to the house at the lake and then go away for the winters. Robin is looking at retiring from the fire dept. in another 4 years. But he loves his job, so he may stay longer, who knows. The years since highschool have gone by too fast. As you all know, the years of working and raising children are busy ones. Now are the years a person has to try to slow down a bit and enjoy each day and consider each day a blessing that we still have our health. I feel very fortunate to still have my health at the age I am (ha!!). Well, we can't lie about our ages to each other, cause we all know. I can hardly believe I am in my 50's. It used to seem so old, but now that I am there, it doesn't seem so old. The only things I am finding tougher about this age is keeping the weight off and having to wear glasses for reading, oh yes, and I can't forget to mention the way my hair is changing colour to a funny colour, grey (ha!!). The highschool years of being very skinny "Twiggy", which was my highschool nickname to many, are gone and I have joined a gym to try to keep my middle age spread from spreading too much more. But things could be worse and I feel very fortunate to have my health, husband, children and grandson and those are the most important things in my life. So if anyone reads this, it would be nice to hear from you. Colleen Annesley (Myers)
