Connie's Story
Recently divorced. Midlife crisis took my kids dad back to his moms house.(separated a year, finally divorced)
I have 2 great kids, a daughter who will be 12 in Jan, and a son who will be 11 in March. If 14 years of misery is the price to pay to end up with 2 beautiful kids, I'd do it again!!!
My daughters best friend, is Lisa Carters (class of 91) daughter. They go to Station 6th grade in Hilliard. (not many people knew it but Lisa and I have been friends since Kindergarten, at Avery!!)
I live right on the edge of Hilliard. In a very cute, free standing condo. Work in the schools as a "lunch lady". I also work doing data entry, from home 3 days a week, for a local legit company.
I have 3 dogs and 2 cats. Am happily single. It is funny how we learn, that life alone is less stressful, less demanding, and VERY enjoyable, not to mention the loss of the in-law factor. WEW. (ever watched Everybody loves Raymond? I was Debra, and Marie and Frank are my ex in-laws to a T!!!)
I still keep in contact with my best friend through high school, Liz Hayes (Franstook...Expand for more
), she lives in Nashville with her 3 girls.
I don't go out but maybe once every 3-4 months (without my kids) Gotta actually GET their Dad to keep his kids.. or get the kids to like dad and his life style a bit more so they'll want to go with him!
If I do get out.. I only go to my brother's bar (in Hilliard).. I don't want drama.. so I go there, its safe, laid back, and a mature crowd. (if you can look past / get past the watchdog barmaid)
Until my kids are grown, or ready for me to "date", I will stay single and focus on keeping them as happy as I can. Dad is causing them enough stress.. one of us has to be the "stable" parent, and I am very happy, and proud to be that parent.
I have no desire to date right now... My divorce feels like what I would expect getting out of jail would feel like.. after 14 years, would you really turn right around and commit another crime for more time? LOL
