Connie's Story

Life My Kids I have been blessed with three lovely daughters -- Staci whose career Army husband retired a year ago after three deployments to Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Iraq (they now live in Slidell, LA, and are enjoying the corporate civilian life), Melani who after a stint of her own of active duty military service has returned with her family to San Antonio, and Lynette who served her time with the Army Reserves and is currently full-time in as an administrative assistant to a vice president at Trinity University when she isn't busy being a mommy. Her husband was active duty Army as well. Yes, all three girls have been up close and personal with the military. Staci and Rob have three children --...Expand for more
Lindsay, Hailey, and our family's FIRST boy, Ryan. Melani and Chris has one daughter, Brandi, four-year-old Gavin, and Corbin Daniel who is two. Lynette and Jeremy are the proud parents of two-year-old Jaden Hunter (another boy - yes, for the first time the boys are on equal footing with the girls in this family. What a mind-boggling idea!). That makes me a Grammi, seven times over. Grandkids are a wonderful gift from God. I taught at Madison High School in the North East ISD here in San Antonio for 7 years before I spent a couple of years trying to "find myself" -- traveling some, exploring new possibilities. The good news is that I think I have rediscovered myself -- I think! It's an ongoing process.

One thing I learned from my various psych classes is that oldest children tend to feel the need to be people-pleasers. I identify, and with that comes the proclivity to avoid confrontation at all cost. I identify with that
Positive thoughts only this Monday morning! It IS going to be a good day!! You're here and so am I. How could it be otherwise? 💕🙏🏼🙏🏼💕
In about fourth or fifth grade I read the autobiography of Helen Keller, a story that impacted me in a way no other to that point had. In the summer of 1962 a movie entitled "The Miracle Worker" was released. For once this

Someone needs to test drive this idea and report back. As yummy as it may sound, it seems to me as though a person would have to consume his/her coffee way faster than I do to avoid a messy situation. 🤷‍♀️☕️🍪
One last observation before I answer the call to return to see what awaits in the spooky New York attic "suite"...
Happy Friday, everyone!
Thirty-three years ago we gathered together in a sweet little chapel to do this thing, and it's still going strong. I was thinking yesterday about the "stats" of this marriage - the times/places/distances moved, the deploym
I may be experiencing some of this syndrome this morning. 📖📚☕️
