Connie's Story
Life--Often people ask me how I can recall my life experiences...I guess it's a gift.
A new boy came to my 5th grade class. As fate whould have it, he really liked me. We sat together at lunch, hung out on the playground and he even called me at home. He made an impression on me. I was so saddened when he moved to NY. He wrote me a letter which he sent to my school. I was given it by my teacher. I wrote back but mom intercepted the letter so it never got mailed. Gosh, we could have had a bundle of kids by now. LOL
My parents moved me around during all aspects of my young life. They managed to keep me in the same high school from eleventh through twelveth grades so I graduated with a class that I didn't get to know well. My favorite memories come from Oak Grove Jr. High and Largo High., located in Largo FL. I never remarried after my divorce (from a classmate that I never knew while attending Plantation High, who was the class valevictorian). Met him a year later through coworkers. We had one daughter, now age 30. Dad is deceased, mom is doing well at 84. My youngest brother,Chuck, married at age 45 and has 3 children, ages 5,3 & 6 mos. They are the sunshine of my life! U can find me on facebook I'm hoping to rekindle friendships from Classmates.com as well.
School
Going to LHS football games and participating in the pep club were highlights from t...Expand for more
hat time of my life. I also took tennis lessons on Saturdays at the school. As far as PHS...my happiest memories were working on the floats and the clubs. Those crazy Chinese Fire Drills were exhausting but definately a RIOT!!Heading out to the acres on Saturday nights were always exciting too. On my first day at PHS, in Psychology class, this guy threw paper wads at my back then laughed about it. At the time I thought he was so stupid but come to find out, he actually liked me.LOLOLOLOL We've talked about those days before our last reunion. I've been to all but one reunion for PHS. Reconnected with a few classmates. Two gals told me I still look the same as I did in High school. WOW,what a nice compliment. When my brother and I were in LHS, he (Mike)had a band called the Sounds Of Society. Other bands came along later;they were Southern Comfort and The Second Coming. He was involed in the Marching Band too.
Workplace
I quit Motorola to move to Gainesville, FL. Married and had a few temp. jobs here and there. When I returned to Broward County in 1976 I began on my journey in the Childcare career. Since 1980 I've had jobs in daycares, a Montessori School and now in the Public School setting. I have been a Teacher Assistant for the past 26 years. I love working with children and especially in the area of handicapped children. I'm working on my degree.
