Connie's Story
How to start...married 28 years to 5th generation Nashvillian--Jay Wallace. Two children--P.A. Bowler, Hendersonville; and Michele Bowler Welch, Lake Wylie, SC. Four grandchildren.
We live on 7 acres in Lebanon where I garden with a passion, if little sense. Jay rides Harleys (yes, with passion and great common sense). Cleo, short for Cleopatra, a feisty malamute; and Caesar, a Heinz rescue--how could we resist taking him with that name--complete our family in the country. Together, they almost outweigh us; and certainly have more energy.
Besides family and work, I've discovered stalking athletes and coaches to be a most rewarding pastime. I love my Titans and Vols--go to Vols sports banquets, Titans training camp, home games, away games--maybe I'll upload some incriminating photos of me and the boys!!
I've owned an association management company...Expand for more
since 1990 and our clients include architects, nurse anesthetists, lobbyists, Exchange Club, convention & visitors bureaus, etc. The work is challenging and consuming; and I am afraid to retire--will I eat cat food? will anyone buy the business? will I miss the spotlight? will I eat bon bons and watch soaps?
I loved my days at West and am sad I've never found two of my best friends--Jan McCarthy and Judy Greeson. Have loved re-connecting with Annisse Acuff, Peter Bugel, Mary Louise Mills, Nancy Cates and others.
Finally, I guess I still think I am 25 although the body (and sometimes mind) insist otherwise. We all think our generation is unique, but I think ours never expected to get old. Would love to know how others are coping. I don't like getting older worth a darn, but overall would rate my life as a great success, and my future a happy one.
