Connie's Story

I hope old friends remember me as being creative and artsy. They would be satisfied to know that I continued in that tradition and had my artwork featured on the cover of an international magazine in 1998. My husband Pat and I have made and sold literally tens of thousands of handmade outdoor craft items since 1994 and have loved every second of it. I always wanted to be an artist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right. To blow off steam I go outside and work in the garden or in the flowerbeds. As something fun, and a way to share beautiful things, I grow and sell gladiolas in every color of the rainbow during the late summer. can't even type here! (Pete, Randy, Angie and Tammy - you know what I mean!) My biggest surprise is that I settled down. After 30-odd years of being single, I finally found the right man who can keep my wild spirit in check. The biggest surprise is that he was my neighbor and that I had to move to the Upper Peninsula to find him! The bizarre part of my life is where I ended up. After spending a dozen years as an art director/composing manager at a newspaper - I found I hated the politics and got out of it. Now - believe it or not - I have begun a second career in law enforcement and find that I truly like the work and the daily challenges it brings. And yes - I do carry handcuffs every day and I know how to use them (as well as a pistol and shotgun)!
