Connie's Story
Looking back at parenting, if I could I'd do a lot of things differently. In fact I'd do many things differently! But I also believe that is a normal reaction to lots of things & part of the learning process, but do have some serious regrets.
I loved school & education - still love learning! I would most like to see Katy Bauder who led the A Capella Choir, Miss Hicks who taught Latin, & Wendel Dieble, my primary professor at CSU, who was a friend as well as a very fine pianist as well, a graduate & former professor at Julliard where he was trained by a woman who was a student of Liszt. He will be forever thankful for what they taught me & how they influenced my life. Should also add Will Schwartz, violinist & Symphony Director as well. CSU had little standing in the fine arts but these two men could have done other things with their talents but chose to teach.
Just a note to acknowledge your stopping on my page. I've looked at a lot of former classmates but not answered many. Have just started doing so. I didn't have a chance to have many relationships with very many students back then. I was hindered by the limits on what I could do & not do. Everyone knew I couldn't dance (now don't know how to), couldn...Expand for more
't go to movies. Not much I could do & everyone knew because I was born in Fort Collins & did all my education there. Sometimes it felt like I walked thru school as an invisible person. We went to the 25th reunion & I still felt like that except for a couple of people I'd had a little more relationship with thru common interests & didn't go back until the 50th - & had a ball! Enjoyed everyone. I came home & joined & have just decided to answer everyone I can!
If I could do it over again, I'd DO something wild - I guess the wildest things I every did was marry a foreign student. I learned a lot tho. Spent four years in Lebanon as result, had three wonderful boys I love dearly & seven grandchildren.
My current age is 71. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old & stodgy. I was so completely wrong. Sometimes find it hard to believe I'm that old! Where did time go??? I've had the job of helping my husband outside the spot light- basically backed him up with all the hohums. Now I'm in charge. With his death, I've become the boss. With lots of advisers of course! The learning curve is huge & I was blown away at first but it is beginning to smooth out. It has been a challenge to say the least.
