Connie's Story
Wow! What a life. My downs have been really down and my ups really up! Never has my pendulum hung in the center. I have lived in many places and all different and fascinating, Arkansas (in a one room log cabin without running water), Tennessee, Florida (on a 62' ketch sailboat), Korea (taking care of my newly adopted granddaughter), one month in the Ukraine (on the 4th floor of a walk up behind a pickle factory), and now I have retired in the rain forest hills of Costa Rica. If I told you one side of my life story, you would say, "Wow, how could you live through that kind of pain", and if I told you the other side of my story, you would say, "Wow, that is the most interesting life ever!" It is the side you choose to remember that makes or breaks you.
What I feel are my accomplishments are raising two good Christian men who have married and are raising good Christian children of their own, learning to fly an airplane (overcoming my fear of heights), helping start a Community Church (in English) ...Expand for more
for travelers and local expats here in Costa Rica, traveling around Korea and Ukraine on my own, and trying all kinds of weird and unusual foods like raw conch straight from the ocean and dishes served in foreign countries where I didn't "ask" what was in the dish.
Butch and I just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary and I tried something that I never thought I would...I tried surfing on that day! It was in Galveston and the waves were not big enough, but I tried!
I hope that when I am gone people will remember that they were important to me and remember me as a Godly woman who has lifted each of you up in my prayers. I like that people think I am a fun person and I have a grandson following in my footsteps in that area. Making people smile is a special gift, and I hope that at sometime I have made you smile. Life certainly can be difficult at times, and that is why I hold fast to the vs. "I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me." If you ever need a friend, call me. Connie
