Connie's Story
Life
I'm happily single - no kids, just neices & nephews + a kitty - living in Raleigh, NC, in the house my grandfather built in 1954. I work for an insurance company that writes attorney malpractice insurance, and I've been there 31 years. I stay active with church, community, and civic activities. I enjoy singing & reading. I listen to books on tape a lot while I travel ( I love to travel, too!). I started my school days at Garner Elementary School & was there through the 8th grade. At that time, my family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where I attended NorthEast High School. My class ring is from NorthEast & I would have been a member of the first graduating class but for the fact that my mom moved back to N.C. during my junior year. Then I started Needham B. Broughton High School, where I graduated in 1965. I received a scholarship to Chowan Jr. College (located in Murfreesboro, NC) and graduated from there with an Associates Degree. I then attended N.C. ved a degree in Business Administration from an online university. So, I've been busy!!!! I keep up with people from all high schools I attended, but not so much college friends. I did serve on the Chowan College alumni board for a year, but didn't reconnect with many old friends there. Garner High School and NorthEast High School have a fond place in my heart because I attended there the most (Garner) and made some good friends during an impressionable part of my growing up years at both schools. I've been to a couple of Garner High reunions. I visited Ft. Lauderdale in 1999 last & drove by the "old school" and "unofficially" explored a little. Things do change over the years.... sometimes sadly.... I don't feel "older" even though my age says I am. I am a "young" 65 right now! I'd love to hear from some of you from my school days. I do e-mail with a few NorthEasters that I met through another, earlier, online group. Even though we didn't graduate the same year, we have a lot of common memories of Ft. Lauderdale! See ya! Connie
