I worked for The City Of Los Angeles for 15 plus years and I'm now retired since 2010. I used to live in the East Hollywood area, and have since moved to the Mid Town or Mid City area near Crenshaw and Venice Blvd. I've gotten used to commuting to Hollywood to go to the movies but I miss taking the Red Line, the busses are so slow, especially the 210 bus. Terrible ! Anyway. I was born in Chicago, IL and my parents came out here when I was a kid. ack to sunny SoCal Before all of that I went to Mt VERNON JR. HIGH not Johnny Cochran...ok?Then I went to L.A. High and graduated in 1967. Yaaay! Went through a lot of changes in those days and since those days. In 1989 I had a bad employment stint and got laid-off working out of Temp Agencies. work was not steady which caused a big hic-up in my finances, that led to me not having enough rent money at the end of the month. so I had to move. With no place to go and no money I had no choice but to go to a Homeless Shelter downtown. this was before I got the job with the City in 1990. that was a rough year for me in 1989. I had had some rough patches in Phoenix also when I lived there for 2 years in the mid 80's. I 'm glad to have survived those experiences. I'm a Believer, so I know that, all things work together for good, for those that love God and are called according to His purpose. Now days since I've retired, I stay up later and get up later. LOL. I enjoy not having to get up at the crack of dawn to go to work. If I want to, I can stay up to the crack of dawn an watch the sun come up. If I had a car I could drive down to the Santa Monica Pier and watch the sun set. Wow! That would be really nice. Oh well, so much for day dreaming.
