Coralie's Story

Life My Kids I am lucky and grateful. They are healthy, happy and genuinely good people - the kind of kids you like to have as friends. So far, they have presented me with ten beautiful grandchildren. I would happily welcome more........but that is not in my hands. Two and a half years ago I moved in with my daughter, son-in-law and their five children. I had been downsized at my place of employment, so the children talked me into selling my home and most of my possessions and moving in with them. I am the nanny, cook and housekeeper Monday through Friday and just plain grandma on the week-ends. After a short adjustment period everything has worked out beautifully - I am able to be with and experience five of my grandchildren growing up on a daily basis and get to visit the other five in California at least twice a year. I have had a couple of seasonal (Christmas) jobs working second shift and that has been fun too. Working all day and then part of the night took a little getting used to but kept me busy and out of trouble. My son-in-law, Tim built a beautiful room for me and I feel very much appreciated and loved........all in all, I am a very blessed person and very grateful for my life. 6/2014 Update: Bought a little house in Grand Rapids, MI two years ago and have been busy inside and out. ns so this is lots of fun for me. Just gave up a Walgreen career after seven years and am looking for something a little less stressful. God has been very good to me in spite of my sometimes bad behavior. My children are all happy and healthy, my grandchildren are happy and healthy and my great grandchildren are happy and healthy. Oh yes, so am I! I am still surprised every morning though when I see that 67 yr old woman staring back at me. I just know I am not that old....am I? Lets see now, I missed the last reunion and now the 50th. When is the next one? 75 yr? I can't miss three in a row so you may not recognize me but when you see a 92 yr old redhead pull up on her big Harley - you can be certain it is me. Please be ready to help me off the bike, okay? See you then. Stay healthy and have as much fun as you possibly can and then have more! My Job I babysit and keep house during the daytime for five of my grandchildren and then work second shift at a pharmacy. It is busy but it keeps me out of trouble and I get to participate in my grandchildren's lives which makes it all worth it. At the first of the year I moved into my own place again. It has been fun decorating, etc. and my twelve year old grandson now has possession of my old room at the house and is thrilled to not share a room with his two little brothers any more. Life is good.
