Corey's Story
Well where to start???? As most of you know I joined the Navy pretty much straight out of high school. After boot camp and "A" School I went to my first duty station the aircraft carrier "USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN CVN-72". I was there from February 1992 through December 1996, when I embarked her she was home ported in Alameda, Ca. but after 1995 West Pac I went up to Washinton State with her. During my tour there I visited the gulf region on a couple of different occasions, also during my tour on her I met my lovely wife Angie, we were married in October of 1994 and are still currently going strong.
From there we transferred to Submarine Base Bangor in Washington State and were there from December of 1996 through December 1999. From there our overseas adventures began, we started in La Maddalena, Italy where I was on shore duty from Feb 2002-April 2004. We liked it there so much I transferred to the ship there, the "USS EMORY S. LAND AS-39" and was embarked on her from April 2002 through April 2004.
After 4 years in Italy we decided it was time to move on, however our love for Europe didn't let us go far and we landed...Expand for more
in London. WE LOVED IT THERE, we were there from April 2004 through June 2007. We met people there from all different walks of life and different parts of the world. Thanks to that duty station we now have life long friend from South Africa, the UK, Australia, Canada, and last but not least all them Kiwi folks.
After that we thought about coming back to the states but the U.S. Navy helped us change our minds and decided we should try the likes of Sasebo, Japan (about 20 miles from Nagasaki, if any of you remember your history).
As for me and Angie we are going strong and loving life. No children to this point besides the four legged kind, Jewelz our 6 year old Chocolate Lab who has traveled the world with us and our newest edition Mr Moku the cat.
We will be in Japan through the summer of 2010 at a min, maybe through the summer of 2011. After that we intend to migrate back to the states to retire and move on with life after the military. That is of course unless the Navy offers us something we really like.
More to follow in time, hope all is well and hope to hear from some of you soon.
